Jenni Rivera Killed in Plane Crash

A plane carrying Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera crashed near Iturbide, Nuevo León, Mexico early Sunday morning (December 9, 2012) killing all on board.

Wreckage from the plane crash was found but no bodies have been retrieved. Authorities say the remnants from the crash are almost nonexistent. ”There is nothing recognizable, neither material nor human” in the wreckage found in the state of Nuevo Leon, Ruiz Esparza said. The impact was so powerful that the remains of the plane “are scattered over an area of 250 to 300 meters. It is almost unrecognizable,” said Gerardo Ruiz Esparza, Transportation and Communications Minister.

Jenni Rivera performed in Monterrey then she, her makeup artist, her lawyer and the Learjet’s flight staff boarded the plane and took flight around 3:30AM local time. Ten minutes later authorities lost contact with the plane.

Rivera, 43, was recently divorced from her third husband and is survived by her five children.
