Was LeAnn Rimes Drunk or High on X Factor?

After last night’s shaky performance on The X Factor, many are suspecting LeAnn Rimes may have been drunk or high.

LeAnn was on The X Factor to perform her hit ‘How Do I Live?’ with Carly Rose Sonenclar, who is in the Top 3. Oddly enough, Carly upstaged LeAnn, singing her own song far better than she did. And even odder than that, is that LeAnn tried to (allegedly) blame her crappy performance on the 13-year-old girl. TMZ quoted LeAnn Rimes as saying she was NOT drunk. ”I was trying to help this 13-year-old girl who was having some trouble with the song.”

However, LeAnn posted on her Twitter account shortly after:

“In my 18 years of performing, I have never been anything but professional onstage. It is a shame that gossip and lies are overshadowing the performance of Carly, a very talented young girl. And while I have not given any media outlet a quote, if you want one, here it is “It was an amazing opportunity to share this experience with Carly and I know I’ll be watching for her to win tonight.”

UPDATE 12/21:

Even though LeAnn says she did not guve that quote to TMZ, the website is fighting back saying, “Rimes insists she was sober, but says if  things were awkward, it was only because, ‘I was trying to help this 13-year-old girl who was having some trouble with the song.’  Rimes later claimed she never gave a quote, but we can tell you … her rep specifically gave us the quote and told us we could use it.”

Carly’s family has spoken about The X Factor duet saying they are “royally pissed” that LeAnn used Carly as an excuse for her piss poor performance. Meanwhile, LeAnn is still denying that she was drunk.
