Olivia Newton-John Talks About Her Christmas Collaboration With John Travolta

When Spicy presented us with the bizarre Christmas video collaboration between Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta, I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. But just because I’m a freak like that and for some reason I get the uncontrollable giggles when I’m in uncomfortable situations, which I definitely was when I saw the mess.

Well, now Olivia has spoken out about the holiday duet “I Think You Might Like It” and this is what she had to say (via In Touch Weekly):

On whose idea it was to reunite (As you probably know the two famously collaborated for the 1978 hit film Grease):

“It was John’s idea- I sent him a text last Christmas to say Merry Christmas and tell him that ‘You’re the One That I Want’ had been named the most successful duet in history! That text inspired him to text back to me “let’s do a Christmas song together.”

When asked who had the vision for the video, her or John:

“I suggested we do a video and John agreed… and we funded it ourselves. We followed the story of the lyrics – like watching ‘It’s a Wonderful Life” and of course we did a “tip of the hat” to Grease.”

What was one of the most fun behind-the-scenes moments during the shoot?

“I had lots of fun driving John’s 50′s car – I only stalled it a few times! We had a blast dancing, too… that was all very spontaneous!”

To anyone who criticized the video, this is what Olivia wants to say:

“Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but as I know that the intention behind the CD and the video is pure – to raise funds for our charities.”

When asked if her and John will do another similar video?

“The window is too short to shoot another this year… but maybe next year!”

Okay Sandy, you’ve got us with the charity statement, that’s really all that matters, and honestly that’s what the holidays are about so I’ll shut up now. But please, do another video!
