David Letterman To Oprah: Jay Leno Is The Most ‘Insecure’ Person I Know

David Letterman Calls Jay Leno The Most 'Insecure' Person He's Ever Known

Jay Leno seems to have a grip of frenemies is Hollywood, and David Letterman is just one of them.

The 65-year-old talk show host veteran speaks out about his longtime rival in a new interview with Oprah Winfrey and in doing so, calls Jay Leno “the most insecure person I have ever known.”

According to Letterman, the feud between him and his talk show host competitor didn’t start because Leno got the “Tonight Show” gig over him. He says: “We were always friends before all of this happened.”

“He has a way … he’s an unusual fellow. I’ve never met anyone quite like Jay. And I will say, and I’m happy to say, that I think he is the funniest guy I’ve ever known. Just flat out, if you go to see him do his nightclub act, just the funniest, the smartest, a wonderful observationist and very appealing as a comic,” Letterman goes on to say.

He adds (with a vengeance!), “The fact that he is also maybe the most insecure person I have ever known … I could never reconcile that.”

Oh you know that was meant to burrrrn. Ouch.

You can see the full interview with David Letterman on “Oprah’s Next Chapter”, which airs on January 6, 2013, on OWN.
