My pets are like my children and I’d do anything for them, so when I heard that Dennis Lehane lost his beloved dog, my heart sank for him.
The famous author, best known for his novel Mystic River, is so saddened about losing his beautiful Beagle Tessa that, like many dog owners do when their loved one goes missing, has posted a reward for anyone that is able to find her. Lehane’s reward is a unique one though, in that it will forever eternalize the lucky person who finds her. The novelist is promising to name a future novel character after Tessa’s rescuer.
Miss Tessa has been missing from Lehane’s Boston, Mass., home since Monday. She reportedly jumped over one of the house’s fences.
Dennis Lehane wrote on his Facebook page:
“Our recent and beloved rescue dog, Tessa, jumped the fence in Brookline and has been roaming through the wilds of Coolidge Corner for the last 24 hours. It’s possible she’s staying in some good Samaritan’s home right now or has tucked herself away on a porch. But if anyone sees her or knows of her whereabouts, please reach out to this page.”
“She’s smart, fast, and immeasurably sweet. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She’s micro-chipped, but her tags were off when she was let out into the yard,” he goes on to say.
“Naming of character in the next book for anyone who gets her back to us! (No, really!). Again–Tessa, black-and-tan Beagle, 24 hours on the lam, sweet as all hell. Thank you!”
If anyone has any info on where his dog Tessa is, Lehane asks that you please call the Brookline Animal Control at 617-730-2222.
Good luck to you Mr. Lehane!
