New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1985: You may or may not know this, but Dolph Lundgren was Grace Jones’ bodyguard in the early 80s and the relationship grew to be a romantic one. New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1989: Lori Loughlin and Kirk Cameron on Dick Clark’s Rockin New Year’s Eve. Surprisingly enough they both had pretty tame hair for that particular year. Kirk was starring on Growing Pains and his movie, Listen to Me was a flop at the box office. Lori was starring on Full House had gotten married to Michael Burns in 1989. That marriage would seven years later.

New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1991: Robert Downey Jr. looking exceptionally glassy-eyed. He had starred in Soapdish with Sally Field and a slew of other A-listers (at the time), and the following year, 1992, would be a big one for Downey after his role in Chaplin.

New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2002: Britney Spears and Natalie Portman. Britney and Justin broke up this year but Forbes magazine also named her the Most Powerful Celebrity in 2002. It was also a prosperous year for Portman who found success on Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2004: This was back when Lindsay was still vibrant, successful and gorgeous. She actually performed that New Year’s Eve night, and had high hopes of being a pop star. She released her first album, Speak, earlier in the year and surprisingly it went platinum. Even more surprising, her next album, A Little More Personal (Raw) went gold in 2005.

Husband Jordan Bratman chose a frumpy winter coat. Christina’s Back to Basics album was released this year and it immediately debuted at #1 on the charts.

New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2006: Paris Hilton is probably kicking herself for introducing Kim Kardashian to the paparazzi. It didn’t take long before Kim was the one that everyone was talking about, not Paris.
