She’s a millionaire at age 22 but don’t seek out her job, because Jennifer Lawrence says, “acting is stupid.”
The outspoken Hunger Games star recently told Vanity Fair that she doesn’t view her job as being that important. Actually, it’s stupid. She says, “Not to sound rude, but [acting] is stupid… Everybody’s like, ‘How can you remain with a level head?’ And I’m like, ‘Why would I ever get cocky? I’m not saving anybody’s life. There are doctors who save lives and firemen who run into burning buildings. I’m making movies. It’s stupid.’”
Lawrence, who admits that she never went to high school, claims she’s “vastly uneducated” but does pride herself on the fact that she read Anna Karenina.
The Silver Linings Playbook actress also revealed to the magazine that one time, she stuck her hand in Bill Maher’s face just to get a glimpse of one of her idols, Meryl Streep.
“Once I’m obsessed with somebody, I’m terrified of them instantly. I’m not scared of them—I’m scared of me and how I will react. Like, for instance, one time someone was introducing me to Bill Maher, and I saw Meryl Streep walk into the room, and I literally put my hand right in Bill Maher’s face and said, ‘Not now, Bill!’ and I just stared at Meryl Streep,” J.Law told the mag.
On whether she actually met Streep, she says, “Of course not. I just creepily stared at her.”
I really like this girl. She doesn’t seem to take herself too seriously. She’s self-deprecating and I find that kind of endearing. There’s so much on my part that I need to catch up on regarding her work. I just might be the last person on Earth who hasn’t seen or read The Hunger Games.
