Mindy McCready’s Boyfriend Commits Suicide

The boyfriend and baby daddy of Mindy McCready‘s youngest child, David Wilson, has died after committing suicide on Monday, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

McCready has not had an easy life despite being a successful country singer (at one point). Of course many of her problems have been self induced, but still, she has struggled.

After a widely publicized affair with baseball legend Roger Clemens, Mindy sunk into a deep depression and relied on drugs and alcohol for comfort. She appeared on the VH1 reality show Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew and we got to see just how fragile she really is.

McCready has also attempted suicide numerous times. In 2005 she was nearly killed in a domestic assault by her then boyfriend, Billy McKnight, and after splitting with him she was found in a hotel lobby unconscious after ingesting a large amount of pills and alcohol. Later that same year (when she was pregnant with her first child) she attempted suicide again, with pills, then in 2008, she attempted suicide once more, by slitting her wrists. In 2010 she was hospitalized for an overdose, although a suicide attempt was denied at that time.

McCready has two children, one from Billy McKnight and one from David Wilson. Wilson’s child was born last April and is now fatherless. Such a tragedy.

Mindy released the following statement tot PEOPLE magazine:

“David was my soulmate. He was a precious gift from God to all of us and, yesterday, he returned home and is now with his mother and father. David loved and was loved. Those who knew and loved him will miss him; those who did know know David missed the opportunity to know a truly loving and gifted man.”

Anyone else a little worried if Mindy will be able to cope with his death?
