Lindsay Lohan may be turning down offers from gigs like Dancing With The Stars, but if she’s doing it in hopes that her movie career will get back on track, she may want to think twice.
With the horrible reviews Liz & Dick stirred up, it’s got to be horrible for Lohan to hear that her more recent project, the indie ‘erotic thriller’ The Canyons, is getting some major thumbs down. According to reports, not only has the Sundance Film Festival refused to accept the flick, but also sources within The South by Southwest (SXSW) Conferences & Festivals circle say that the movie is being turned down due to its “quality issues”. A source was quoted as saying that the low-budget film has “an ugliness and a deadness to it.” Hmmm…kind of like Lohan’s career sadly.
It appears that The Canyons’ producer, Braxton Pope, is still waiting for an official answer from the festival’s organizers, but things are looking grim. With no theatrical release date yet set, word has it that producers are pondering the idea of releasing clips of the racy sex scenes included in the movie, such as Lohan appearing nude while having group sex.
A source told Radar: “Producers of the movie are freaking out because The Canyons doesn’t have a distributor to release it theatrically. The Sundance Film Festival turned it down, and the only buzz the movie is getting is Lindsay Lohan’s four-way sex scene, in which she is fully nude.”
“Producers are considering leaking a snippet of the sex scene online, or to a tabloid website in the hopes that would secure a distributorship deal,” the insider added. Supposedly, the sex scenes were so hard to deal with for Lohan, that she had to get pretty boozed up to do them. That, and the fact that she was paid less than some movie extras are paid (she took $100 a day), is just a bummer.
Another thing the 26-year-old actress has to be bumming about is the fact that her longtime attorney, Shawn Holley, has decided to quit her. That’s another issue and is just a whole mess; one Ms. Lohan could do without. Oh well, she’s brought this upon herself.
