The Strokes Debut New Song ‘One Way Trigger’, Fans React

The Strokes are back and they’re proving that they are fearless. The band just released a brand new song called “One Way Trigger”, which you can download for free on their website, and most likely, you’ll either love it or hate it. If you’re like me, you’ll hit PLAY, then after a brief second asking yourself, “What the f**k am I listening to?”, you’ll soon be overwhelmed with love for the little ditty. It’s like an eargasm wrapped in a straightjacket. Seriously. It’s that good.

The song has gotten a bunch of mixed reviews from fans. And luckily NME grabbed some screenshots of Twitter comments. Here are a couple of those responses:

– weirdo @_chloe_hart said: “the new @thestrokes song is so crazy and weird. i love it.”

– Hinata @_Zero_Gravity_ said: “So high-pitched, but I’ll get used to it soon I guess. I’ll just give it a try”

– Benjamin Salt @BenjaminSalt1 said: “@liamhorton91 @thestrokes There is no way Julian will be able to nail this live, he can’t get to high bits in ‘Undercover Of Darkness!’”

– Stephan J. @GMHasi said: “That new @thestrokes song is really, really weird. And yet it got that special something. Apparently they just can’t seem to fail me”

– Lady Fortune @Fortuneboys said: “@thestrokes new song makes me feel like I’m playing a driving game on an Amiga 500 and the car has no roof but its ok because its warm out.”

That last one is my favorite…

Anyway, guitarist Albert Hammond Jr.’s dad recently confirmed that his son’s band was indeed in the studio finishing up their fifth record. He stated, “Albert says that the stuff they’re doing is incredible. They’re doing it themselves with their friend, engineer and producer. He just says, ‘Dad, it’s incredible’.”

When asked if he thought it would sound a lot different than 2011’s Angles, he answered, “I don’t think they’ll go in a wildly different direction. Obviously the songs will be different, but I think The Strokes are The Strokes; they always will be The Strokes.”

Don’t take my word for it though, go ahead and take a listen and tell us what you think in the comments below!
