‘Beetlejuice 2’ Will Happen If The Script Is Right, Says Tim Burton

Beetlejuice 2 Sequel Will Happen If Script Is Right Claims Tim Burton 2013

It’s been 25 years since the original Beetlejuice came out and it’s still one of the best films of all time, in my opinion. It’s classic and I loved it so much I named my beloved cat after it. I even trained her to come to me after calling her name three times in a row. Well kind of. Anyway, I realize as a society, we need Beetlejuice 2 in our lives and so does director Tim Burton, as long as the script is good, he’s in.

Just last May, we learned that screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith was writing a sequel to Burton’s 1988 cult classic hit Beetlejuice, which starred Michael Keaton, Geena Davis, Alec Baldwin, and Winona Ryder among others. At the time Seth, had also written the screenplay for Burton’s 2012 film Dark Shadows, said that the new movie would not be considered a “remake” or “reboot”, but instead a “true sequel with Michael Keaton as the title character” again.

Upon hearing that Burton seemed stoked. He was quoted as saying, “That’s, like, one of my favorite characters I’ve ever dealt with… I would love to revisit that character at some point.”

Although he seemed keen on the idea he did say this to Vulture: “Those were fun characters, but I’d have to see what the script was like and if it was worth doing – I can’t just make it because it’s one of the worst ten movies of the year! The first two films I did, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure and Beetlejuice, made the ten-worst-movies-of-the-year lists. Then, years later, people said they were my best movies. What? So if those were my best, I’m in real trouble.”

Dear Lord, please make this movie happen! We need this to come to fruition!
