Some fans of the film Magic Mike could make the argument that the only thing better than seeing the movie in a theater would be seeing it in 3D. Viewing Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey’s ripped bods in third dimension does sound titillating, but what if we could take that one step further and make that experience physically tangible, like with lap dances and all? The word on the street is that the popular 2012 male stripping film is coming to Broadway, so ladies (and gents), get those singles ready!
Vulture was able to ask the show’s producer Gregory Jacobs, a few burning questions they had about the forthcoming play.
Some of the questions they wanted to ask were: “Will the Broadway version cast any of the original stars? Will Matthew McConaughey’s Oscar-snubbed song ‘Ladies of Tampa’ be part of the show? Oh, and will audience members get lap dances?”
Luckily for the masses, they got the last and most important question answered.
Jacobs, who also served as assistant director to Magic Mike, had this to say about the possibility of lap dances being performed at the Broadway showings: “Oh, you definitely might get a lap dance. Absolutely. That’s happening for sure.”
Jacobs also said, “there’s bound to be a great song about how to pick out a thong,” but left it at that. “It’s coming along, and there will be more about it soon,” he added.
Question is, do you think that making Magic Mike into a Broadway musical is a good idea? Answer the poll below to tell us!
