Elton John To Appear On New Queens Of The Stone Age Album

Elton John To Appear On The Queens Of The Stone Age Album 2013

The rumor going around in the music world is that the upcoming and much-anticipated album from the Queens of the Stone Age is going to feature a grip of legendary artist guest spots on it and the latest of that group is none other than Sir Elton John.

The 65-year-old musical icon, husband and father appeared on Chelsea Lately this week with guest host Dave Grohl, who once again is contributing his awesome drum skills to the band and album.

According to Rolling Stone, during the conversation between John and Grohl, John revealed that the QOTSA were recording at an L.A. studio nearby to where they were also working on an Engelbert Humperdinck album. He told Grohl, “I went down and sang with him and then drove three blocks, in the Valley, I went from Engelbert to Queens of the Stone Age, which was, you know, a bit of a mind-f*ck.”

He went on to say that most of the time, artists and band’s usually never ask him to contribute to their work because they assume he’ll decline. He pointed out that he did indeed play on the 2009 Alice in Chains album Black Gives Way to Blue, to which Grohl made a lighthearted comment about John having certain expectations.

The Foo Fighters frontman joked, “You were like, ‘Alright, what do you have, a ballad for me?’ And we were like, ‘No, we don’t have a ballad for you today, at all.’”

So far, the QOTSA album, still untitled, will feature John and Grohl, along with Trent Reznor, Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears, and the band’s original bassist Nick Oliveri. The album is due out this year.
