Helicopter Crash While Filming Discovery Channel Reality TV In California

A helicopter used in filming for a reality television show on The Discovery Channel crashed at the Polsa Rosa Ranch in Los Angeles Sunday morning, killing three people onboard.

The crash happened while filming “Untitled Military Project” and is being investigated by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board. It’s not immediately known what caused it. The fatal crash now replaces the Twilight Zone: The Movie helicopter crash of 1982 as the deadliest on-set accident in Hollywood.

The victims have been identified as Michael William Donatelli, 45, of Indiana, Pa., Darren Arthur Rydstrom, 46, of Whittier, and David Gene Gibbs, 59, of Valencia.
