Country star Mindy McCready has died of an apparent suicide, according to reports.
A source close to the troubled star has reported that the singer’s body was found in Heber Springs, Arkansas.
This year began horribly for the 37-year-old. Just a month ago, McCready’s boyfriend and father to their 9-month-old son Zayne, David Wilson, died at the age of 34. Although Wilson’s death was first reported as being a result of a suicide, currently, there has been no official cause of death or any details surrounding it. An investigation is still under way.
From that point on, things got worse and worse for McCready. In the beginning of February her children, Zayne and his older brother Zander, 6 (father is ex-boyfriend Billy McKnight), were taken from her custody by authorities because the singer was not doing well, emotionally and physically, and was not caring for her children.
At the time, her father said of the situation: “Since boyfriend (David Wilson) shot himself she has been in bed for 3 wks,” adding, “Sleeps all day. Drinks all night and is taking Rx drugs. Not bathing or even helping take care of her 2 children.”
Days later, a judge ordered McCready to enter a treatment facility for a mental health and alcohol-abuse evaluation. Her stay was cut short to just 24-hours, due to the judge ruling that she could undergo outpatient treatment instead.
A source told E! News: “Being involuntarily committed and having her children taken away from her was eye-opening. It helped her realize she needs to focus on putting her family back together and moving forward from this tragedy. She is in a better state of mind.”
Sadly, that source couldn’t have been more wrong. This woman was in no way, shape or form ready to deal with life. There was too much going on and she may have benefitted from being under someone else’s care. Hopefully she has finally found peace, but those poor babies of hers.
