The Carrie Diaries

The Carrie Diaries, a novel by Sex and the City creator/ author Candace Bushnell, is set to be released in April 2010 – a month before Sex and the City II is released in theaters.

The book revolves around Carrie Bradshaw’s teenage years, before she was a writer, and before the days of Mr. Big. The official release date is April 27th, 2010.

Can’t wait for the book, and also can’t wait for the SATC sequel!

Andre Agassi was once a crystal meth user, the former tennis star reveals in his new book, Open.

Agassi admits that back in the late 90s he started using the drug regularly. When asked if he was an addict at any time he responded,”I can’t speak to addiction, but a lot of people would say that if you’re using anything as an escape, you have a problem.”

And what might his fans think about his past drug use? “I was worried for a moment, but not for long. I wore my heart on my sleeve and my emotions were always written on my face. I was actually excited about telling the world the whole story.”

In the book Agassi also discusses his failed marriage to actress Brooke Shields, his current marriage to Steffi Graf, and losing that hunky long mullet he once had.

Jodie Sweetin Needs More Meth Money

Jodie Sweetin, the fallen child star who, on more than one occasion, has lied about her sobriety, is claiming, AGAIN, to be sober.

But this time, instead of exhausting the morning show circuit and speaking publicly about sobriety (after coming off a two day bender), she has written a book.

unSweetined is a tell-all describing her relapse, her deceptions and her eventual sobriety. I can’t help but wonder if it’s a work of fiction. Another paycheck to fund her drug habit. I don’t trust that she is clean anymore than I trust that Joe Francis is a gentleman.

How many times is she going to claim she’s sober? Even the little boy who cried wolf only got so many chances. It’s turned into a money making gig for her. Getting paid to talk about being clean, then taking the money and running off to buy an 8-ball.

An excerpt from the book:

“I thought for sure that one of the professors would take one look at me and kick me out. But none did. They wanted to hear about the trials and tribulations of Jodie Sweetin, or at least the Jodie Sweetin I had created by appearing on Good Morning America and talking to People magazine.

“The relapse started one day, just a few months after my GMA spot, when I got a random phone call from a friend who I used with and who occasionally sold me drugs. I invited her to my place. I was in an apartment at the time. I knew it was a really bad idea to invite her over but I wanted to test myself, I guess. We hung out, played cards. I told her I hadn’t done meth in a while. One thing led to another and just like that, I was back. I was living a complete lie. But unfortunately, guilt doesn’t make you stop. I talked about growing up on television and about how great my life was now that I was sober… The little bit of coke that I had done before the speech wasn’t enough to make me forget how bad I felt for doing what I was doing. The guilt was eating away at me. I was struggling to keep it together, but no one realized that. I finished. They applauded. Standing ovation. Just how I liked it. And it was over.

“I went back to my hotel room and buried my face in my hands. I couldn’t keep doing this. It had to end.But not today. I wiped away the tears and finished the baggie of coke.”

I’m not buying what she’s selling. She claims she invited a known drug addict over to “test herself”? Bullish! What she is doing is twisting the truth, so maybe we can call it a work of fiction. At the very least, is it “loosely” based on a true story. Very loosely. KY jelly loose, even.

unSweetined hits shelves November 3rd.

Dustin Diamond is a narc.

He’s like the kid on the playground who tattles on everyone – for every little thing. And he is the kid that nobody likes, so the only way he can gain attention is by being disruptive and dramatic. This is Dustin Diamond, former child actor on the 90s television sitcom, Saved by the Bell.

For those of you who witnessed his childish behavior on the reality show, Celebrity Fit Club, you know what I am talking about. Dustin went out of his way to not follow the rules of the show while attacking castmates with a vicious, unforgiving tongue.

Now the douchebag is making news again because of a tell-all book full of behind-the-scenes secrets of Saved by the Bell. Dustin, who played Screech on the show, says that sex & drugs were everywhere in the background.

Dustin claims his co-workers smoked marijuana in their dressing rooms, he says that Mark Paul Gosselaar, who played Zack Morris, used steroids, Mario Lopez was a serial womanizer who hit on every actress, Tiffany Amber Thiesen used sex to further her career and everyone was screwing each other.

I think Dustin has no other way to get in the news except for being a complete dick. He’s just pissed because he has absolutely no career to speak of, and nobody wants to work with him. So he throws vileness out there in order to get noticed. It’s all he’s got. All the while he is accussing everyone of everything but won’t even look in the mirror at himself. I wonder if deep down he hates himself as much as we all do?

Patrick Swayze penned a memoir, ‘The Time of My Life’ before his death and although it won’t hit shelves until September, 29th, we have a sneak peek for you.

The book, co-written by wife of 32-years Lisa Niemi, was written after Swayze’s February 2008 diagnosis of advanced pancreatic cancer.

What a love story. This couple really had something special. And how rare is it for a Hollywood leading man to actually be SO in love with his wife? What a great thing is that?

Patrick had it all, alright. And I think he summed it up best in the line above about having lived 10 lifetimes during his time on earth. He is so inspirational to those facing a similar situation. His wife is surely proud of him.

Did William Hurt Abuse Marlee Matlin?

Marlee Matlin is revealing some of her darkest secrets in a new tell-all book, I’ll Scream Later.

Matlin became America’s sweetheart after winning an Oscar in 1987 for Children of a Lesser God, but no one knew the personal struggles that fame would send her way.

She starred in the film with William Hurt (whom we know now has been aptly named), and the two began a whirlwind affair. She was 19 and he was 35. Soon after they began their relationship they moved in together and the relationship became destructive. Marlee became a cocaine addict and Hurt was an alcoholic.

Marlee says that she regularly endured abuse from Hurt. It was common to acquire fresh bruises daily. In her book she writes that one of the most memorable nights of abuse was the night that she won an Academy Award.

She tells Access Hollywood, “I was afraid. I was always afraid… of him. But I loved him. I did. Or maybe I thought I did. But look, I was 19, he was 35.”

She also described a fight where Hurt threw her on the bed and ripped her clothes off as she cried and begged him not to.

When asked, “Did you ever think about filing charges against him?” Matlin says she was too afraid. “No, not at the time. I was so wrapped up in his world and my drugs. The drugs took over my life, took over my brain. I was 19 and I was alone in New York City. I had no friends there except my drug dealer.

“I could say that I understand how women are afraid to leave an abusive relationship. They should, but at the same time, I understand how they don’t know how.”

Did Matlin tell Hurt about the book before it was published?

“I did not. I had no contact with him. Really, I had nothing to say to him. He knows what happened, I know what happened. We both were there.”

Tori Spelling Takes the High Road

Tori Spelling and her mother Candy have never gotten along.

From day one there was never that bonding that a mother and child have, in fact, it seems to me that it’s been more of a competition for Candy. Tori was, and never has been, good enough for her mother and the same holds true today.

If you recall, while promoting her new book, Stories from Candyland, Candy played the victim (as always) and told the world that her daughter is once again not speaking to her, has refused to let her see her grandchildren and will not share the whereabouts of her residence. Of course, Tori is denying every single allegation. But she is doing it with class.

She tells People magazine, “It’s not like we’re not talking, we just haven’t talked. I love my mother. I’ve always loved her [and] no doubt she loves me. There’s no feud. We simply never meshed.

“My mother is who she is. I’ve become who I am. At some point I realized those two just didn’t go together. I, in no way, cut her off. She is welcome to make the effort if she wants to be present in their lives.”

Tori says that the last contact she had with her mother was via email, while pregnant with Stella. Her mother never responded.

“She knows how to reach me, she knows where we live. If she would love to see her grandchildren, she should really make an effort to reach out and see them.”

Despite her mother staunchly saying that she’s never read, nor does she ever plan to read, Tori’s first book, sTORI Telling, Tori says she will be reading her mother’s new book.

“If she wants to put her truth out there as she sees it, she’s completely entitled to do that. I know she has a letter to the grandchildren in it, and I think that’s perfectly lovely if that makes her happy. And you know, I hope she follows through on that. I hope they do mean the world to her and she does reach out to them.”

Tori’s second book Mommywood hits stores tomorrow.

Oh boy, ever since VH1 revived Bret Michaels’ suffocating career it seems we just can’t shake him.

Making sure he gets every drop out of his second fifteen minutes of fame, Michaels is putting out a new autobiography titled (of course) Roses & Thorns.

The Poison singer will take the reader on a ride through his eventful life. From his humble upbringings in Harrisburg, PA, to his wild-child 80s rockstar days, up until now, where he is the star of VH1’s top reality show. Bret also opens up about the car crashes that nearly killed him and his struggle with diabetes.

His latest reality show, Rock of Love Tour Bus, airs it’s season finale on April 12th.

The book hits shelves June 23rd.
