‘30 Seconds to Mars’ New Video Raises Global Warming Awareness

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

“A Beautiful Lie,” the title track and current single from 30 Seconds to Mars‘ platinum album, marks the first music video ever shot 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle in Greenland.

It is the third in a series of short films featuring songs from the band’s 2005 album. The video premieres January 30th through a never before seen global MySpace exclusive event.

“Shooting in Greenland was a dream come true and one of the most exciting adventures we’ve ever had as a band,” says 30 Seconds to Mars lead vocalist Jared Leto.”Although incredibly challenging and at times it seemed just out of our reach, once we finally arrived the beauty and magnificence of the terrain, the wonderful culture of the people, and the amazing journey itself were all inspiring beyond belief. Almost everyone has heard of global warming by now but for the people of Greenland it is a real and tangible problem of today, not an issue of tomorrow. This journey changed our lives. We hope that with this film and new website we can share, in some small way, this incredible experience with our family of friends and fans around the world.”

“Sometimes you get to throw a barbecue or do something special but usually I know that the crew people are working really hard and everybody is not making the same amount of money we are. So we do this five dollar Fridays thing and everybody writes their name on a five dollar bill and puts it into a bucket and at the end of the day somebody picks a bill out and whoevers name is on the bill wins all the money….I’d double the money every Friday.”

- Queen Latifah livened things up on the set of her new film, Mad Money.

Charlie’s Angels Band Together for Farrah Fawcett

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

Farrah Fawcett is not alone in her fight against cancer. Her former Charlie’s Angles cast members have reunited to form a support group for the actress.

Fawcett, 60, has been traveling between her home here in the states and Germany, where she is receiving alternative treatments for her anal cancer.

In between trips, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith, both cancer survivors themselves, visit the actress in hopes of boosting her spirits and to offer their support.

Jackson beat breast cancer twice in 1987 and then in 1989. Smith also fought the disease in 2002.

A source told the National Enquirer, “Jaclyn and Kate have been there for Farrah throughout her cancer ordeal. They’re constantly dropping by to check up on her, bringing meals and special treats. And they all talk by phone daily.”

It’s good to know Farrah has the support of her longtime friends and peers. Cancer is a bitch and hopefully she will survive her second battle as she did her first.

Jimmy Kimmel Takes Care of Staff During WGA Strike

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

jimmy-k-1203.jpg

Jimmy Kimmel knows true Christmas spirit - he has secretly been paying people on his staff since the start of the WGA strike.

Kimmel has been especially taking care of those who have the lesser paying, more menial jobs. The ones who would no doubt be effed if they lost a job during the holiday season. Senior staffers are also being “taken care of” by ABC.

Kimmel and his staff will not comment on the matter.

Good for Kimmel. Back when I was in my early 20’s and very, very poor, I worked for a dentist who would take off two weeks. I made the least amount of money in the office (I had just gotten into the profession) and was definitely hurt big time by his annual vacation. It’s not like he was going to pay me for that time so I just suffered by working a few days for temp agencies (which is a load of fun -NOT) and donating plasma and shit. Yeah, really! Sad times.

Anyhow, this is why I love Kimmel. I’m not the biggest fan of his late night show, but he is cool. Good for you Jimmy, everyone should be so lucky to have an employer that actually cares.
