Mischa Barton Medical Mystery UPDATED

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

mischa-barton-drugs

Mischa Barton was taken from her home yesterday after suffering some sort of medical issue.

Barton called authorities around 3 PM Wednesday and when they arrived they “removed her from her home” and took her to an “undisclosed location”. A police spokesperson says that the actress did not dial 911, and that it was not an emergency, but they aren’t saying much more.

A source told Us Weekly that Mischa “had a freak out,” and I am guessing it had something to do with drugs, because well, we all know Mischa likes them!

Mischa was charged in 2008 with DUI and marijuana possession and was sentenced to three years probation.

UPDATE: Access Hollywood has reported that Mischa s being held under an involuntary psychiatric hold, also known as a 5150. The LAPD had her transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center yesterday. The hospital has the right to hold her for up to 72-hours, depending on her condition. A 5150 is generally enacted when someone is a detriment to themselves or society, is mentally unstable or even suicidal.

This is similar to what happened to Britney Spears back in 2007, if you recall.

Mischa’s publicist has confirmed that the actress will not be attending the premiere of her new film, The Homecoming on Thursday.

Elizabeth Taylor Hospitalized

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

elizabeth-taylor-michael-jackson

Elizabeth Taylor has been hospitalized with what sources are calling a broken heart.

The New York Post is reporting that Liz, 77, a longtime, devout friend of Michael Jackson’s, hasn’t been dealing very well with the death of her good friend.

Apparently at the time of Jackson’s death Liz was preparing to go to London where she was going to enjoy herself and catch her friend’s first performance. She was in her usual wheelchair, accompanied by her dog(s) and nurses when she heard the devastating news of Michael’s death.

She did not take the news lightly. She screamed out in grief. Poor Liz, she has lost many people in her life, but she and Michael had a bond that lasted many, many years. And like Jackson, she has also struggled with drug problems. I recall the gossip rags of the early 80s constantly targeting her for being drunk or stuffed on pills. Every week it was Liz who was on the cover. My grandma ordered every single gossip rag there was back then. Where do you think my fascination with celebrities began?

We also hearing that the Jackson clan refused to invite Taylor to the private memorial service because she was Jackson’s friend – “not theirs.”

Liz is reportedly fatigued, depressed and has been constantly crying, missing her friend.

Below: Michael Jackson singing “Elizabeth, I Love You” in a rare performance in the early 90s.

Heidi Montag Hospitalized “I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here”

Monday, June 8th, 2009

heidi-montag-hospitalized

Heidi Montag was hospitalized Saturday after spending the night in the Lost Chamber, a structure in the Costa Rican jungle where she has been filming “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!”

Montag and boyfriend Spencer Pratt were told in order to return to the show they had to spend the night in the dark dwelling. The next day their castmates would decide if they would take them back or kick them out for good.

However, Saturday Montag fell ill and was vomiting uncontrollably. (Great visual!) She was taken to a hospital where she was diagnosed with a gastric ulcer.

Reports that Heidi and Spencer were “tortured” sound extremely exaggerated. The couple were fed rice, beans and water, but to hear Heidi’s sister Stephanie explain it, it sounds as though they were caught by the North Korean military.

She wrote: “I’m really saddened to hear that nbc felt it was ok to punish speidi so harshly-and torture them as if they were criminals-that Heidi was…rushed to the hospital and has an IV in her arm after being locked in a dark room for 3 days w no food or water. Pls pray she will be ok.”

What a drama queen. But of course, she is related to Heidi. I like how she changes the story from 14-hours to 3 days that they were kept in the Lost Chamber, and says they had no food or water. Bitch please, settle down.

ITV Studios, producers of the show say that a medical staff was on hand at all times and that rumors of the couple being tortured are just simply not true.

They released the following statement: “ITV has been producing this format around the world for many years and the health of the celebrity participants are of the utmost importance.”

The couple is said to REALLY want out of the show this time, but they have a contract with NBC, so they may be back. Yippie skip.

Speaking of the North Korean military, maybe we should offer Spencer and Heidi in exhange for Laura Ling and Euna Lee for these two publicity whores! 12-years in a hard labor camp might do these two some good. Not that they would survive it..

Susan Boyle Hospitalized [Photo]

Monday, June 1st, 2009

susan-boyle-hospitalized

Susan Boyle has been hospitalized for exhaustion after taking second place on “Britain’s Got Talent.”

Boyle was acting strangely at her London hotel after the show’s finale Saturday night. Police were called and Boyle agreed to be taken to a hospital to be checked out.

Reports are suggesting the Scottish singer suffered an emotional breakdown after mounting pressure and sudden fame overwhelmed the frumpy 48-year-old.

A source at the hotel said: “When the paramedics and police arrived she agreed to go voluntarily. She didn’t make a fuss. The paramedics calmly took her out through the main lobby and into the waiting ambulance. It was all done very calmly. They didn’t want to stress or upset her. She didn’t look well, she looked lost, not all there.”

The poor woman. Hopefully she will get some much needed rest after the whirlwind of craziness that has consumed her life recently.

Patrick Swayze Died, Not.

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

patrick-swayze-died

Patrick Swayze has not died, despite some erroneous reports across the internet.

The actor’s rep has stated that her client, 56, is alive and still fighting pancreatic cancer.

“This is to confirm that Patrick Swayze did not pass away this morning contrary to severely reckless reports stemming from a radio station in Jacksonville, Florida,” says Annett Wolf. “Patrick Swayze is alive, well and is enjoying his life and he continues to respond to treatment.”

Poor Patrick and Farrah, having to constantly fight the reports of having died, being suicidal, and whatever else slimy people want to make up. It’s not enough that they are fighting for their lives.

Patrick is still fighting the fight. Send him a card of support!

Alana Stewart is Farrah Fawcett’s BFF

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

alana-stewart-farrah-fawcett

During Farrah Fawcett’s battle with cancer, her best friend Alana Stewart has been there with her every step of the way.

Stewart has accompanied her friend to Germany multiple times and has been a constant during Farrah’s illness. It was even Stewart’s idea that Farrah begin filming her doctor visits in order to remember everything the doctor had said. The footage led to the making of a 2-hour documentary, “Farrah’s Story” which airs Friday night on NBC, May 15th at 9:00 p.m.

The women met in the 70’s and have continued a lifelong relationship since then. Alana was married to George Hamilton from 1972-1975 and then to rocker Rod Stewart from 1979-1984. She had two children with Rod, Kimberly Stewart and Sean Stewart. You’ve probably heard of them.

Alana recently opened up to Entertainment Tonight about her best friend, updating us on her condition and proudly telling of Farrah’s courage. She says throughout treatment Farrah has been fortunate enough to have kept her hair. Until recently, that is.

“I think it was surprising because she’d gone through almost two years of treatment without losing it. Then when she did start to lose it, it was very surprising in the beginning and then shocking. Then she kind of joked about it. I mean she took it like she did everything else. She took it in her stride.”

Alana confirms that Farrah is NOT aware that Redmond is in jail.

“She was so happy to see him I think it just gave her new inner strength. She’s using all her strength to battle cancer. There’s no reason that she should know that her son is in jail. She thinks he’s in rehab.”

As for Farrah’s state of mind, Alana says it is healthy. Farrah is trying to remain strong and is determined to beat the disease.

“She has talked about dying. She’s said many times ‘all I want to know is if I have two months left to live that the doctors tell me because I need to know. There’s a lot of things I need to do.’ So far no one’s told her that.”

“She hasn’t cried a lot. There’s times during these last two years where she has broken down and cried, and then she’ll say, ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry I don’t mean to be a baby.’ And I’ve said, ‘baby, are you kidding? I couldn’t go through one tenth of what you’ve gone through.’ And I’ve said to her, ‘you’re the most amazing, the strongest person I’ve ever known,’ And she is.”

“Farrah’s Story,” Farrah Fawcett’s Cancer Documentary

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

farrah-fawcett-farrahs-story

“Farrah’s Story” is an NBC special that will air next week starring Farrah Fawcett, who takes you along beside her during her courageous battle with anal cancer.

As we reported back in January 2008, Farrah has been filming her trips to Germany throughout her treatment. She initially started recording her medical visits so that she would remember everything the doctors told her. She has had a camera alongside her since the beginning of her journey. She has since turned the footage into a documentary of sorts with the help of NBC.

In one clip Farrah explains,

“This film is very personal. At the time, I didn’t know if anybody would ever see it. But at some point, the footage took on a life of its own and dictated that it be seen.”

Farrah’s longtime BFF Alana Stewart did most of the filming and traveled with Farrah back and forth to Germany.

“Farrah’s Story,” will air on NBC May 15, 9-11 p.m.

As for Farrah’s current condition, our initial reports that Farrah is doing fine were correct.  (We had disputed Baby Huey blogger’s story) But Harvey Levine (of TMZ) later had me scratching my head about a mention on his Twitter that people “were saying their goodbyes” to Farrah at her home last week. But thank goodness that was NOT true. She really is hanging in there and doing as well as she can be.

Farrah’s longtime partner Ryan O’Neal recently opened up to People magazine and said the cancer has been absolutely heartbreaking.

He says, “It’s a love story. I just don’t know how to play this one. I won’t know this world without her. Cancer is an insidious enemy.”

He says Farrah’s treatments are over and that she is staying comfortable.  “She stays in bed now…Farrah is on IVs, but some of that is for nourishment. The treatment has pretty much ended.

“At about the halfway point in our trips the news started to get darker and darker and darker. The hope started to fade. But not for Farrah. She continued fighting. There was always a courage there, and a quiet dignity. Farrah never changed. I fell in love with her all over again because of how she handled this.”

As for all the drama with her son, Ryan says she has been shielded from all of that. “Farrah doesn’t know Redmond’s in trouble, and Redmond is terrified for his mother. ‘I don’t want to be in jail and have some guard tell me she is gone,’ he said to me. I told him, ‘She’s rebounding.’ I lied to him. I lie to her. It’s the best thing.”

Farrah Fawcett Not Doing Well

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

farrah-fawcett

Ugh. I hate it when I am wrong, and especially in this case.

On Monday I reported that Farrah Fawcett was doing fine despite reports stating otherwise. Farrah’s rep swore that her condition had not changed. But about an hour ago Harvey Levin of TMZ tweeted that her close friends and family are starting to say their goodbyes to the actress at her home. It looks like she may have taken a turn for the worse. (This is not confirmed, however.)

Terrible news. Our thoughts are with Farrah and her family during this terrible time. Cancer sucks.

Prince Has Epilepsy

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

prince

In an interview Monday, pop icon, Prince, revealed for the first time that he has the neurological disorder, epilepsy.

The singer told PBS’s Tavis Smiley,

“I’ve never spoken about this before but I was born epileptic. I used to have seizures when I was young. My mother and father didn’t know what to do or how to handle it but they did the best they could with what little they had.”

Prince says as a young boy he told his mother that an angel visited him. “My mother told me one day I walked in to her and said, ‘Mom, I’m not going to be sick anymore,’ and she said ‘Why?’ and I said ‘Because an angel told me so.’ Now, I don’t remember saying it, that’s just what she told me.”

He adds that his childhood was complicated by constant bullying. “From that point on, I’ve been having to deal with a lot of things, getting teased a lot in school. And early in my career I tried to compensate by being as flashy as I could and as noisy as I could.”

You can catch Part 3 of the interview tonight on PBS.

I never knew this about Prince, and believe me, I thought I knew everything about him in the 7th grade. (Yes, that was 1984.) My father also had epillepsy and so I know what a difficult thing it can be to manage and how hard it is on a family – and specifically the person afflicted with the disorder. Seeing your dad convulse on the floor at a young age was absolutely terrifying.

Bravo to Prince for “coming out” so to speak. It is such a common condition but yet it is rarely discussed publicly. Kudos.
