Janet Jackson Pulls Raunchy Routine from Concert Lineup

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

For fear of breaking local obscenity laws, Janet Jackson decided not to perform a risque dance routine at her Michigan concert.

The segment of her performance included her inviting a male audience member onstage, tying him up and fondling him as her backup dancers stroked themselves.

Hopefully she doesn’t wear her goofy ass C3PO outfit during that segment. It would kind of kill it, ya know? Such a nasty little fattie! Heh.

Michigan’s decency laws are quite strict and prohibit simulating sex acts during a public performance.

A rep for the show said, “We explained the law, asked her not to do it, she complied. We did not ask her to cut the song. That was her call.”

Jackson’s manager commented, “Janet did not want to disappoint her Detroit-area fans again, so we adhered to Michigan’s state ordinance and trimmed the Discipline segment of the show so it would not be cancelled.”

Amy Winehouse at the Glastonbury Music Festival

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Trainwreck or not, I love Amy Winehouse’s performances.

Amy was off-the-hook this weekend at the annual Glastonbury music festival. She spit her gum into the crowd, smacked a fan who may have been getting a little handsy with her (in video 3), and told the crowd that Kanye West is a c*nt!

During Amy’s performance she carried around a paper cup, careful to not spill it’s contents, and she decorated her massive beehive with cocktail umbrellas.

Kanye West Angers Bonnaroo Crowd

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Kanye West’s middle-of-the-night show at the Bonnaroo Misc Festival in Tennessee was delayed nearly two hours causing the crowd to chant, “Kanye sucks!”

West was slated to hit the stage at 2:45am, but when that time approached concert goers were told there had been a slight delay and that he would be on stage at 3:15am. Then when that didn’t happen, they were told he’d be on at 3:30am. Once again it was pushed even further out, and the performer didn’t take the stage until nearly 4:30am. By that time the crowd was pretty worked up, and the chanting continued.

Initially it was reported that the delay was caused by problems with West’s extremely intricate stage props that included an “interplanetary landscape of a wavy black platform with a slanted floor in the middle and a video screen above.”

However, Ken Weinstein, a spokesman for the annual festival , said that it was the fact that Pearl Jam had played an hour over their scheduled time (until 1:15am) and it was just a matter of getting their gear offstage and Kanye’s on stage.

Halfway through Kanye’s show the sun began to rise and many concert goers headed to bed. Many fans were upset that Kanye had failed to mention anything about the delay.

Celebrity Quote of the Day – Christina Aguilera

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

“I remember one night I came out and sang Beautiful and I was really crying while singing the song. I couldn’t help myself. The audience just went crazy… (but) my band was like, ‘Oh, man, this poor girl.’ That was the first time I’d ever bawled on stage, but it came at the right song; at least I wasn’t crying during Dirrty.”

- Christina Aguilera says her pregnancy has caused her to get quite emotional on stage recently

Kanye West Starts Crying During His Concert on Saturday

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Considering how many musicians cancel shows because they’re hungover (Justin Timberlake), miss their boyfriend (Lily Allen), when they wanna go boozin’ (Amy Winehouse) or they’re just being lazy divas, Kanye deserves all the props in the world for taking to the stage one week after his mother died.

Kanye broke down in tears during his concert in Paris on Saturday during the intro of his song, “Hey Mama.”

West attempted to introduce the tribute to a sold-out crowd at Le Zénith in Paris, saying “this song is for my mother….” and could get no further.”He just cracked. He was at the end of his concert and had just started to dedicate the song and then he just lost it completely.”"He said the word, ‘Mother’ and just couldn’t go any further. A back-up singer, the DJ and a guitar player came over to console him. It looked like he might collapse. He just couldn’t continue. He just stood there in a spotlight, crying while the band continued playing.”

The band restarted the song, but West left the stage, returning after 10-15 minutes to conclude the concert with a rousing performance of “Stronger.”

“He was very nervous, seemed to have gathered himself up, and had a lot of energy,” Magloire says. “He kept shouting out to the audience, ‘I need you… I need you right now.’ and the public was screaming back. It was magic.”

Much love to you, Kanye! You’ll make it through this.

West had been reclusive since death of his mother. He cancelled a Victoria’s Secrets performance on Thursday and was not at the memorial for her in Chicago on Friday. His arrival in Paris at the Hotel Le Meurice on Friday, accompanied by fiancée Alexis Phifer and her son, was unexpected, coming just hours after another scheduled concert set for Monday in Amsterdam was officially cancelled.West is scheduled to perform in Brussels on Sunday night. It’s now expected he will return to the United States for his mother’s funeral in Oklahoma City on Tuesday afternoon before returning to Europe to perform in London on Thursday.
