Elizabeth Taylor has been hospitalized with what sources are calling a broken heart.

The New York Post is reporting that Liz, 77, a longtime, devout friend of Michael Jackson’s, hasn’t been dealing very well with the death of her good friend.

Apparently at the time of Jackson’s death Liz was preparing to go to London where she was going to enjoy herself and catch her friend’s first performance. She was in her usual wheelchair, accompanied by her dog(s) and nurses when she heard the devastating news of Michael’s death.

She did not take the news lightly. She screamed out in grief. Poor Liz, she has lost many people in her life, but she and Michael had a bond that lasted many, many years. And like Jackson, she has also struggled with drug problems. I recall the gossip rags of the early 80s constantly targeting her for being drunk or stuffed on pills. Every week it was Liz who was on the cover. My grandma ordered every single gossip rag there was back then. Where do you think my fascination with celebrities began?

We also hearing that the Jackson clan refused to invite Taylor to the private memorial service because she was Jackson’s friend – “not theirs.”

Liz is reportedly fatigued, depressed and has been constantly crying, missing her friend.

Kathy Ireland told me last night that Elizabeth Taylor is on Twitter!

She said that Liz quietly signed up for the social networking site without hardly anyone knowing and adds that Liz isn’t looking for attention and doesn’t want to make a stink about it, but I nearly fell over when I found out!

Kathy also said that Liz LOVES interacting with fans (as many of us already know) and would love to hear from her fans.

THE Elizabeth Taylor! Wow, a legend, an icon and definitely one of the most gorgeous women to ever walk this planet!

So of course I befriended her, and as of last night she only had about 225 followers.

Liz is so wonderful, she is a very kind woman who does a lot to help people, even in her later years.

Of all the gay icons in the world, Elizabeth Taylor, 76, has to be the Queen.

And in return, she loves her gay fans right back.

Last night Liz showed up at her fave gay club, WeHo’s The Abbey, thrilling patrons by interacting and chatting with them – all the while enjoying a ’sizeable’ martini herself.

This was Liz’s first visit to the club since being hospitalized last month.

Despite rumors about her deteriorating health, Liz was energetic and happy.  One club goer said Liz absolutely lit up the room.

“She was lively. She was laughing and she was smiling.  Even if she was not as strong as the last time she was here, she was once again the life of her small party.”

As Liz and her small dog Daisy, prepared to leave, Liz’s assistant placed a large pair of rhinestone sunglasses on the icon.

A witness watched Liz leave.  He said,

“She needed help getting into the car.  As [they] drove away in this gigantic black sedan, all you could see was those sunglasses and a big smile on her face.”

After a giant martini and a little club time, I’m sure Liz needed help getting into the car – and probably into bed!  Good for her, still having a good time at 76 years old.  Tabloids have been talking about her being deathly ill since she was in her 50s.  I doubt the rumors faze her anymore. You go, girl!

Regardless of her age, Elizabeth Taylor still dazzles people wherever she goes.

Taylor, 76, attended an event celebrating the legalization of gay marriage in California wearing her usual bling and toting around her fluffy white pooch.

Liz knows she’s a gay icon and and in April she attended a function at a gay nightclub in Beverly Hills where she was also dripping with jewels.

The classic star suffers from diabetes and congestive heart failure, she has had both hips replaced, survived viral pneumonia and had a benign brain tumor removed eleven years ago. She is also bound to her wheelchair due to osteoporosis. Despite all her health concerns she still manages to get out for her fans, which they seem to appreciate.
