The Dresses: The Poll

Everyone is buzzing about Michelle Obama’s Inauguration dresses!

Love them or hate them, they caused quite a stir, and everyone has an opinion.

AM,’ a reader of UsMagazine.com commented on their coverage of the a-line shift dress by designer Isabel Toledo, saying she hated the dress.

“[It] made her look like Shrek – especially the green gloves. The coloring did not compliment her skin tone – just made her look green like she was going to puke. It looked like the dress was made from textured drapes.”

On the flip side, commenter ‘exPatPattie‘ loved the dress and the color, “Our First Lady look absolutely beautiful in her inauguration outfit. The color suited her. The style suited her. It fitted perfectly. She looked comfortable and confident.”

Rachel & Sara Bogey‘ loved the Jason Wu ball gown: “Michelle looked absolutely stunning in her white gown. Her and President Obama looked like a real genuine couple as they danced during Beyonce’s breathtaking performance.”

But ‘jayne‘ disagreed. She thought the dress was too frilly. “C’mon, that dress just screamed Surperstar Barbie!”

‘Daisy Dukes’, a Huffington Post reader probably made the most sense when she made this statement, “That’s what I love about Michele. She dances to her own tune. Clothes don’t make her. She makes the clothes. Don’t fret over the petty remarks.”

What is your opinion? Didyou love or hate the Inauguration gowns? Voice your opinion!

Hot or Not?

Friday, October 17th, 2008

After Katie Holmes’ Broadway debut she showed up to the cast’s after party in this ensemble.

Apparently she designed the outfit herself.

It’s not that the jumper is hideous or anything, I think the outfit has potential, but that lace top is killing it. If she would have opted for a nice thick belt and a long necklace instead, I think she would have nailed it.

Thoughts?

PETA Calls Out Giorgio Armani

Friday, October 10th, 2008

After PETA showed Giorgio Armani a video of rabbits being slaughtered for their fur he went public saying he would not use fur in his collections anymore.

He told Time magazine,

“I spoke with the people from PETA and they showed me some materials that convinced me not to use fur.”

However, one short year later Armani’s fall collection is full of rabbit fur.  Rabbit fur coats for babies, floral-printed fur coats, fur-trimmed jackets and fur-hemmed skirts. Obviously PETA was disappointed and wanted to call him on it.

European PETA created this altered photo of the designer, making him appear like Pinocchio, the Disney character whose nose grew every time he fibbed.

Well, I say good for PETA.  He went back on his word after proudly boasting that he wouldn’t do it. So of course there is going to be backlash.

Whether you love or hate PETA, I think it is great to have people who, although might be a bit radical, have good intentions and DO make a difference.

I’m not a member of PETA, nor am I vegetarian, but I am a huge animal lover and hate the process that animals have to go through in order for us to wear or consume them.

Karolina Kurkova is Fat?

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

You know, I haven’t checked, but I would be willing to be that those “straight guy” celebrity blogs out there are going to say that yes, Karolina Kurkova is fat.

Because they’re guys and they think they are being snarky. But really, any of those f*ckers would kill to bang this broad. Get real.

Karolina Kurkova, 24, has been mocked by the Brazilian press during Sao Paolo Fashion Week for being slightly heavier than normal. They called out the model for having “love handles, back fat and cellulite.”

Hold up, now is this the same Brazil that was so proudly (and loudly) telling the world that they were banning size zero models just a couple years ago? Funny how fickle the fashion world is. No one relevant has died due to anorexia lately I suppose.

An article in a Brazilian paper said Victoria’s Secret model Karolina “shocked” the audience when she appeared on the runway. I would give the cellulite on my ass to see who the fat f*ck was who wrote the article. No really, I would.

What do you think? Was Karolina unfit to walk the catwalk?

Celebrity Quote of the Day – Vivienne Westwood

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

“I thought Sex And The City was supposed to be about cutting-edge fashion and there was nothing remotely memorable or interesting about what I saw . . I went to the premiere and left after ten minutes.”

- Fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, 67, wasn’t impressed with the fashion in Sex and the City despite creating the dress worn by ‘Carrie’ on her wedding day.

In the Year 2000!

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

The year 2000 seemed eons away back in the 1930s.

This entertaining retro video from the 30s shows what fashion designers believed we would be wearing in the year 2000. Everything from electric belts that adapt the body to climatic changes to the all-in-one dress. A few predictions were right on, but most were way off, however, this is worth a watch.

“Oohh..swish!”

Lindsay Lohan for Visa Swap 2008

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

Lindsay has the exact same expression in every photo!

It’s a sort of, “What the f*ck are YOU lookin’ at!?” sort of look! But hey, nothing sells fashion like snobby twats!

Visa Swap is something pretty cool that the credit card company is putting together over in London. A sort of clothing-exchange.

Customers can donate clothing they no longer wear to the Covent Garden shop over a period of three weeks beginning June 21, and then have the value of their clothing — in points — put onto a Visa card. During the weekend of July 19, customers can then exchange the value of the points on their cards for others’ second-hand items.

Super cool idea! So why does Lindsay look so pissed off?
