Donald Burns, the building’s owner and millionaire philanthropist, pulled the unit off the market in December after the three-bedroom unit failed to rent for $26,000 a month.
A source tells the New York Post, “It’s completely empty. Everything’s been taken out. Nobody is allowed up there.”

The late actor’s parents and siblings have decided that his entire estate, which is thought to be worth $20 million, should be left to his daughter, Matilda Rose.
A couple years before Matilda was born Heath had a will made up, leaving everything to his sisters and parents.
But Ledger’s father, Kim, says that “from the moment my boy passed away,” they had planned to leave the estate with his grandchild.
He adds that Ledger’s family and Matilda’s mother, actress Michelle Williams, remain extremely close.
“There was never any question about the fact that Heath’s estate would go to Matilda. Never a question. We are very close to Michelle and Matilda.”
In fact the Ledger family has just returned home (Australia) after spending time with Matilda and Michelle in New York.
Kim says of the visit, “It was lovely. There is no animosity. We are all just one family.”

Heath Ledger’s family attended the New York premiere of The Dark Knight yesterday to see him in the final performance of his life.
His father, Kim Ledger, and stepmother Ines snuck into the theater, dodging the red carpet and the spotlight.
Heath’s mother Sally Bell, her husband, and his older sister, Kate, also came to watch the film.
Although you would think it would have been almost impossible to watch their son/brother on the big screen after his tragic death, Heath’s father left feeling positive about the experience. He showed a thumbs-up to reporters and said it felt “very good”.
Ledger’s Dark Knight co-stars as well as a slew of other celebs showed up to honor the memory of the late actor.
Co-star Christian Bale, who plays Batman in the film, praised Heath’s work.
“Working with Heath was fantastic. He steals the movie and I’m quite happy to say that. He’s a hell of a talent and created a joker that’s very iconic and one that will become a classic portrayal of the ages.”
Michael Caine, 75, plays butler Alfred Pennyworth, says that Heath’s performance was intense and ferocious, and that he could flip it on like a switch.
“When we were sitting down between takes, he was completely ordinary. He wasn’t preparing himself or saying ‘Please leave me alone, I’ve gotta do this.’ Instead he was talking to me. We would sit and chat and have a cup of coffee, then suddenly they’d say, ‘We’re ready, Heath,’ and he’d go straight into The Joker. His energy was astonishing, especially when it came from this kind of calm. He’s certainly the best villain I’ve ever seen.”
New reports are surfacing that the late Heath Ledger may have fathered a daughter with an older woman he bedded when he was only 17.
Ledger’s uncle, Haydn Ledger, said that there’s a “real possibility” that it could all be true. Heath’s parents have declined comment.
The woman in question was 25-years old and involved in a serious relationship with another man at the time. That man has helped raise the child with the woman
If the news is true, Matilda Rose has a half-sister and they would be expected to split their father’s estate.
A family source said, “She had the baby. Everyone lived under the assumption that she was the daughter of the mother’s boyfriend and that is how she has been brought up.”
The woman is now married.
The cause of death for Heath Ledger has been determined to be an accidental overdose.
The New York City medical examiner stated,
“Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine. We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications.”
So Vicodin, Percocet, Valium, Xanax and sleeping pills. Quite a cocktail of meds there. Crimony, I can’t imagine taking all that. Seems excessive. I do know that most of that stuff stays in your system for some time, so perhaps he didn’t ingest them all at once…right? Who knows, still sad and tragic – no matter how you cut it.

Now that Heath Ledger has been dead for over a week, people are starting to come forward with tales of sex, drugs and desperation. Which stories are true, and which are purely manifested for financial purposes have yet to be seen. But one thing is for sure, the dirty laundry is starting to fly.
The latest drama is Entertainment Tonight and The Insider pulling a controversial video that was filmed after the SAG awards two years ago of Ledger reportedly snorting cocaine. Ledger is not only seen snorting a white substance through a rolled up dollar bill, he is also heard in the video saying he used to smoke 5 spliffs a day for 20 years.
****UPDATE: Nw reports state it is NOT Ledger snorting cocaine, it is of a party-goer. Big difference! Helloo!
PR firm, ID Public Relations, who has represented Ledger, released a statement Wednesday condemning the TV tabloids for planning to run the video, claiming they “purchased [the video] for a large sum of money in the hopes of stirring up a salacious and exploitive story about Heath, which would win them big ratings on the first day of sweeps.”
The pressure was enough and producers pulled the clip. Entertainment Tonight states on their website,
“Out of respect for Heath Ledger’s family, “Entertainment Tonight” and “The Insider” have decided not to run the Heath Ledger video which has been circulating in the world media.”
Out of respect to the family? Laughable. C’mon ET, you’re not fooling anyone.
Jake Gyllenhaal is taking the death of his friend and Brokeback Mountain co-star, Heath Ledger, especially hard.
A friend of Jake’s says, “[He] is taking it harder than most people.”
Gyllenhaal learned of Ledger’s death while on the set of his latest film Brothers, which is being filmed in New Mexico. He immediately flew out on a commercial flight to New York. He returned to the set Thursday to shoot a scene, but it was apparent Jake’s thoughts were with Ledger.
A source on the set of the movie says, “He was there, but he wasn’t with us. It was obviously a major trauma. These guys were very close. [Jake] was sitting in the director’s chair staring off into space.”
Gyllenhaal has been off on personal leave and the director is filming around Jake’s part as he grieves. He has been spending time with girlfriend Reese Witherspoon and her children in Los Angeles.
Jake is the godfather to Ledger’s 2-year-old daughter, Matilda.
