police-roxanne-79

Just for fun, a handful of music memorabilia from the year 1979.

I love music memorabilia! And of course being a child of the 70’s, I subject you guys to this sort of thing often! I know, I know, but it’s so groovy, baby.

Top: The Police, Roxanne police badge

L-R: The Village People, “Go West” album cover, The Who’s “The Kids are Alright” movie poster, The Jackson’s 1979 World Tour jacket, Cher’s “Take Me Home” album cover, James Brown “World Ambassador” matchbook, and the movie poster for “Hair”.

Trilogy of Terror: Happy Halloween!

Friday, October 30th, 2009

If you were a kid in the 70s you surely remember 1975’s insanely scary Trilogy of Terror.

The story of a possessed tiki doll that goes on a murderous rampage. As a child this was some scary sh*t! For years I worried about the little bastard hiding under my bed and cutting my Achilles tendon when I wasn’t paying attention.

Serious.

Happy Halloween, bitches!  xoxo

The Muppet Show: Steve Martin & Dueling Banjos!

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

I love the 70s!

The whole post below with Britney Spears in Daisy Duke cutoff jeans, belly shirt and Uggs somehow, (I can’t imagine how!)  got the song, “Dueling Banjos” stuck in my head! I am 100% serious!

Funny thing, so I was going to add a banjo track to that post, but was distracted when I found this gem of a classic clip! The Muppet Show with Steve Martin in 1977! Dueling Banjos!

The Muppet Show was one of the greatest shows of the 70’s – or ever- especially if you were a kid at that time. Muppet fans, enjoy!

Flashback to 1978

`1978-brooke-shields

Do you recognize your favorite celebrities as they looked in 1978?

Above: Brooke Shields

Wasn’t she adorable? I just love this photo of her.

Rod Stewart, Janice Dickinson, Elton John

Rod out partyin’ looking quite numb, Janice probably has an 8-ball chalked up on the counter in front of her and Elton looks a little like the Baby Huey blogger, a.k.a. Perez. Scary.

Penny Marshall, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Janet Jackson

I still miss Penny in Laverne & Shirley! Arnold back in his Mr. Universe or whatever days and a little Janet Jackson sitting with a stuffed Saint Bernard. I used to have that dog, seriously, I have pics.

I Love the 70s/80s – Nair!

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

If you were alive in the late 70s/early 8os you remember all those commercials for the hair removal product, Nair.

“Whose got short shorts?” The commercial was such a hit that they stuck with it for years, often changing the lyrics to fit the product.

In the late 70s Baby Oil was a huge thing. There was no sunscreen back then kids, it was all about getting as dark as you could, even if you had to slather on cooking oil. Oh, and it made your skin soft as you were frying it.

So naturally Nair came out with Baby Oil Nair.

The fashion in this commercial will also bring back memories! Terry cloth!

A terry cloth running outfit. These were the sexy track suits of the time. Terry cloth was available in any and every color – and running was really cool back then, too. Match the terry shorts outfit with leather Nikes with the red swoosh, or a pair of wooden Candie’s and you were golden!

Oh, and speaking of golden, don’t forget the QT!

John Travolta Sings in 1976

Friday, December 12th, 2008

If you only watch one crappy video on the internet today, let it be this one.

Because who doesn’t like to see John Travolta look like a total naive 70s douchebag who probably slept his way to the top.

And not with women.

Heh.

For those of you who grew up in the 70s this will come as no surprise because you actually remember it. Don’t think thirty years can erase something like this from your memory..

Even if you watch it just once, it gets burned in your mind like a bad dream.
