The Lionel Richie ‘Hello’ Experiment

Friday, March 6th, 2009

richie-hello

Remember the hilarious video for Lionel Richie’s 1984 hit, “Hello”?

Well, if you are too young or don’t remember, it was basically about a man who was in love with some blind chick. At one point in the video, the woman makes him a sculpture of his head. A little creepy, yes. But what was even creepier was the way it looked.

Recently, even Lionel himself laughed at the head saying he thought it was terrible.

Last year, an art class in the UK decided to do what they called “The Hello Experiment” based on the sculpture in the original video.

What would happen, they asked, if the class were blindfolded while trying to make a sculpture of Richie’s head?

And with that, they played a little inspirational music and went to work. Check out the video to see how they did with their sculptures. There’s a couple good ones, but mostly in a comical way.

Watch ‘The Hello Experiment’ here.

Maybe the original sculpture wasn’t so bad after all..

The neon green Stinger (gawd, I love that name) has it’s own portable chairs, radio, flashlight, vacuum cleaner, garden hose, and would you believe, a pull out ice chest?!

Everything you need for a beach party! So have fun, live it up tonight, and add a little Stinger to your party.

And good luck finding all the pieces to your car in the morning!

I Love the 80s – 21 Jump Street

Friday, December 5th, 2008

If you happened to be a teenager in the 80s, you will definitely remember ‘21 Jump Street’, starring uber hunk Johnny Depp.

His face was splashed all over Tiger Beat, and girls like me had posters of him in our rooms. He was hot, even then.

As for Brad Pitt, I had no clue who he was at the time, but he was climbing his way up the Hollywood ladder, about to become one of the most famous (and sexiest) celebrities in the world. Who knew he starred in an episode of ‘21 Jump Street’? Not me! Not until I came across this clip, that is.

It’s so funny to look back at shows and photos from the 80s. I don’t remember everyone looking so damned goofy. But we sure as hell did, didn’t we?

This clip is full of mullets, bomber jackets, cotton blazers with loud prints, and Brad looks a little bit like Ellen Degeneres with that hairdo, wouldn’t you say?
