Kanye West was arrested at LAX for felony vandalism this morning after unleashing his fury on a cameraman’s equipment.

While at the American Airlines terminal, a photographer was taking photos of the hip hop star, much to Kanye’s displeasure.  He confronted the cameraman, then threw his camera to the ground.

Another paps, who works for TMZ, saw the incident playing out and whipped out his video camera to record the chaotic event. When Kanye saw this he became even more enraged. He demanded, “Give me that f**king tape!”

His assistant backed him up and attacked the paparazzo. After a struggle, the assistant smashed the video camera to the ground, breaking it as well.

Police arrested both Kanye and his assistant. They will both be booked shortly.

Hype is building around this year’s MTV Video Music Awards and now not only do we know who is opening the show (Britney) we also now know who will be closing the event.

Despite claiming that he would never return to the VMAs last year, Kanye West will return this year with the final performance of the evening.

Remember the fit he threw last year?  Here’s a refresher if you don’t.

According to several sources backstage at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards — and a report published late Sunday night by The Associated Press — West lost it again, this time because his performance of “Stronger” took place in the Palms’ Hugh Hefner Sky Villa and not on the main stage.

“Kanye was watching the closing performance [a medley featuring Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Nelly Furtado] on a closed-circuit monitor, and he started getting upset,” a source who was backstage told MTV News. “He started asking anyone who’d listen why he wasn’t allowed to perform on the main stage. ‘Why did I perform in just a suite?’ he was saying. ‘Justin’s my boy, but even he gets to perform in both a suite and on the main stage? Something’s wrong here.’ ”

According to the AP, West was also upset about being shut out of all five categories in which he was nominated. He reportedly yelled, “That’s two years in a row, man … I’m trying hard, man, I have the … #1 record, man.”

AP also reported that West claimed he would “never return to MTV.”

Kanye West’s middle-of-the-night show at the Bonnaroo Misc Festival in Tennessee was delayed nearly two hours causing the crowd to chant, “Kanye sucks!”

West was slated to hit the stage at 2:45am, but when that time approached concert goers were told there had been a slight delay and that he would be on stage at 3:15am. Then when that didn’t happen, they were told he’d be on at 3:30am. Once again it was pushed even further out, and the performer didn’t take the stage until nearly 4:30am. By that time the crowd was pretty worked up, and the chanting continued.

Initially it was reported that the delay was caused by problems with West’s extremely intricate stage props that included an “interplanetary landscape of a wavy black platform with a slanted floor in the middle and a video screen above.”

However, Ken Weinstein, a spokesman for the annual festival , said that it was the fact that Pearl Jam had played an hour over their scheduled time (until 1:15am) and it was just a matter of getting their gear offstage and Kanye’s on stage.

Halfway through Kanye’s show the sun began to rise and many concert goers headed to bed. Many fans were upset that Kanye had failed to mention anything about the delay.

Dr. Jan Adams, the doctor who performed the surgeries on Kanye West’s mother, Donde, issued a statement this week regarding her death.

“I believe very strongly in the fundamental American principle of the right of the individual to defend himself.

Recently, inaccurate and, frankly, false statements have circulated that require clarification. Unfortunately, it has become impossible to separate these statements from other professional issues.

I will await my turn.”

Entertainment Tonight reports,

The funeral for Kanye West’s mom Donda was held yesterday in Oklahoma City, 10 days after her death. Her champagne-colored coffin arrived by a white Cadillac hearse, and Jay-Z, Beyonce and John Legend were in attendance. Anita Baker and Common both sang at the service.

Kanye broke down while talking about his mother, saying he wanted her to not “rest in peace, but rest in paradise.”

Why he even appeared on the show remains a mystery… he really loves the cameras.
