Six months after her son died after suffering a seizure, Kelly Preston has decided that she is ready to do some motivational speaking to mothers who have lost children.

Mariah Shriver has confirmed that Kelly, 46, will be speaking at the California Governor’s Conference for Women in October.

“If she can empower one other woman who feels like they can’t get out of bed, or get through the day, whatever the loss, it’ll be worthwhile sharing her story,” said Shriver.

She adds that Elizabeth Edwards and Susan St. James will also speak with Preston during the “Grief & Resilience” portion of the event. They too have lost a child.

Shriver continued, “She has been thinking about this for a couple of months. I asked her to speak and she knew about the conference and decided if she was only going to speak once, it would be here. She wants the conversation to be about more than just her.”

Good for Kelly. I know that moving on after losing a child is not an easy thing to do. I’m sure you parents out there cannot even possibly imagine it – nor do you want to. Unfortunately I lost a brother (which I know, most of you know) and as hard as it was for me to lose my only sibling, I think the hardest part of all is seeing my mother’s grief.

So for Kelly to go out there 10 months after Jett’s death is just amazing. Some people bounce back faster than others and talking about it with people who can relate is definitely very therapeutic. Kudos and best wishes to her!

Friends closest to John Travolta and Kelly Preston say that the couple are slowly beginning to emerge from the shock of losing their only son, Jett.

The Travolta family celebrated daughter Ella Bleu’s 9th birthday on April 3rd. It was her first birthday without her brother. Friends who attended the party say that the Travoltas are struggling to move on but are leaning heavily on one another now more than ever.

Olivia Newton-John said of close friend John, “John is a strong man, but we want to leave him in peace. To lose a loved one – it’s the worst time in anyone’s life.”

Another family friend says the Travolta’s are learning to cope. “They aren’t secluding themselves or paralyzed. [Seeing them] was like old times. Nothing awkward and no topics to dance around. There were smiles.”

Actress and close friend Leah Remini also spoke about the family, lending her support. “How do you deal with the greatest tragedy in your life?” she said. “I can tell you that they are handling it the best any parent could ever deal.”

Jett’s 17th birthday would have been April 13th.

I feel for them on this day. Birthdays are the worst after someone has died. Especially the first one.

Grieving parents John Travolta, 54, and Kelly Preston, 46, have issued a public statement regarding the tragic death of their son, Jett, 16.

“We would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent their love and condolences. Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives. We have received many messages of condolence from around the world and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and support. It has meant so much to us. It is a beautiful reminder of the inherent goodness in the human spirit that gives us a hope for a brighter future.”

Jett was discovered in a bathroom at the vacation home of the family. He had a seizure and hit his head on a bathtub.

More details, or should I say, speculation, has surfaced, but until anything is made official, out of the respect for the family, I won’t be commenting.

My thoughts are with the family.

It was a very sad week for the families of two celebrities, John Travolta and Mia Farrow, who both had a child pass away during the holiday season.

John Travolta and Kelly Preston’s 16-year-old son died in a freak accident Friday while the family vacationed in the Bahamas.

Jett Travolta hit his head in the bathtub after suffering a seizure while at his family’s vacation home. He was immediately transported to Rand Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He had a history of seizures and was diagnosed with Kawasaki’s disease, an illness that leads to inflamed blood vessels in young children, when he was 2.

Jett, is the couple’s only son. They have a daughter, Ella Bleu, 8.

Christmas Day will probably never be the same for Mia Farrow. Her adopted daughter, Lark Previn, died

on the holiday, at the age of 35.

She had been adopted from Vietnam by Farrow and ex-husband Andre Previn in 1973.

Previn had been ill for a decade but the cause of her death has not been made public.

Previn had two daughters Sara, 13, and Christine, 12.

A memorial was held Monday night in Brooklyn.

A waitress in New York has written a book about her experiences with celebrities and their gratuity habits.

Katherine Taylor’s novel, ‘Rules for Saying Goodbye’ names some of the best and also some of the worst tippers in the entertainment industry.

Taylor lists Madonna, Tobey Maguire, Gwyneth Paltrow and Rupert Everett as the worst tippers.

Taylor worked as a West Village bartender and says that all stories in her book are legitimate.

One excerpt from the book describes her experience with actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

"Gwyneth Paltrow came in. I wanted to tell her that I had been making a list and she was on it, but Gwyneth was not stingy, only stupid. I thought she probably couldn’t calculate 15 per cent."

Who failed to leave a tip?  Everett and Madonna.  Who left a less than desirable gratuity?  Barbra Streisand and Kelly Preston.

Taylor also claims that "Paul McCartney was once too drunk to tip".
