He may have had her best interests at heart, but when Rod Stewart revealed that his daughter had a serious liver illness from drinking too much, she wasn’t best pleased.
It wasn’t just that the singer was being indiscreet, said Kimberley. He was also wrong.
‘I love my dad but sometimes he has a big mouth – and not just when he’s singing,’ she said.
‘I don’t have a liver disease. I was exhausted and feeling sick from burning the candle at both ends, and my doctor told me to cut back on drinking and smoking, which I have, and I feel so much better.’
Stewart recently told Rolling Stone magazine that doctors had warned 27-year-old Kimberley to stop drinking – or risk putting her life in danger.
The 61-year-old said: “She just discovered that she had a very serious liver illness from drinking too much.“
She said to me, “Dad, I’m half Scottish – I thought I was allowed to drink a lot.“
I said, “No darling, it doesn’t work like that.”
Kimberley, Stewart’s daughter by his first wife, Alana, had seen a liver specialist, the father of seven said.
She ‘hasn’t had a drink or cigarette in three months, and she feels great’. But a spokesman for Stewart said his comments were taken out of context.
‘Kimberley had an inflamed liver and she’s perfectly fine now,’ the singer said in a statement.
Stewart recently publicly rebuked comedian Russell Brand for claiming that he had slept with Kimberley. Stewart made the TV presenter admit that he had made up the story.
The singer who is due to marry fiancee Penny Lancaster next year, has previously had to confront his 26-year-old son Sean’s drug and drink problem.
A family friend said: ‘Rod is being very supportive of Kimberley and has told her that she must take care of herself and her health.’

The outspoken comedian made the claim after reducing the audience of the GQ Man of the Year awards to a stunned silence when he spoke of a police investigation into an alleged “date rape” at his flat in Edinburgh during the Festival.
“I never did a sex attack,” he joked. “At the time the alleged sex attack was occurring I was having consensual sex with witnesses. Lovely night it turned out to be.”
Brand, 31, presenter of the Big Brother’s Big Mouth show, added: “Here’s to Rod Stewart who had a go at me earlier this year for too much womanising. But then again I did have a go on his daughter.”
Brand, whose previous conquests include Kate Moss, reportedly wined and dined Kimberly Stewart, 27, at London’s Cuckoo Club this summer – before taking her back to his north London home.
Stewart, 61, himself a legendary womaniser, immediately launched an angry attack on the comic. On stage at the Royal Opera House to pick up the outstanding achievement award, he said: “You went with my daughter, did you? Russell, stand up.” A sheepish Brand stood and mumbled: “I took her out for one evening.”
Stewart asked: “Did you behave yourself?” Brand said: “I never touched that girl.” Stewart retorted: “Fucking right you didn’t. You musn’t come up here and boast. I speak here as a father.”
After the ceremony, Brand tried to make amends and they posed for pictures but Stewart later claimed he had no time for the comic. “He’s got to be careful,” he told the Evening Standard. “He might be a bit of a player but he shouldn’t boast. I never did.” He added: “Russell’s been a bit timid since I had my say.”
Police are investigating an allegation by a 20-year-old that she was raped at Brand’s flat during the Edinburgh festival. There is no suggestion that Brand is the alleged perpetrator and yesterday he denied any knowledge of the attack.

I will say her hair looks better than it usually does. Not that that’s saying much. Her previous blonde ‘Cleopatra’ do was just disastrous though.
I’ve made this comparison before, but I still think Kimmy should go back to her old look. She looked much better without the hair extensions and party dresses. 
And he gave her a 5 carat ring.
