Pinskey on the celebrities he treated on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew:
“You’ve got to remember we have a bunch of non-surrendered, unmotivated drug addicts who weren’t seeking treatment. But out of that group, our success rate is better than half. Gary Busey is one who I just talked to and he’s doing really well. American Idol’s Jessica Sierra is out of prison and working. Brigitte Nielsen is doing well. There are so many lives that really were changed by the show.”
But then there is the lovely Mary Carey, who has made her porn comeback in a film titled, “Celebrity Pornhab with Dr. Screw,” a spoof of Dr. Drew’s show. What exactly does he think of this?
“That was insulting, ridiculous, and disrespectful. And Mary’s choices have consequences. I’m not happy about it. And I’m not communicating with her except as somebody who has rendered her medical care. Dealing with addicts, nothing ever surprises me, but it’s sad to see her get sucked back in like that. Hopefully, she’ll get back in the game.”
Speaking of trainwrecks, what does Drew think of wild child Lindsay Lohan, who, since splitting with girlfriend Samantha Ronson, has been partying up a storm?
“I’m convinced that she’ll get sober one day. But I’m afraid that between now and then, she may get a nearly mortal wound of some type. I’m really convinced that something horrible is going to have to happen to her before she really gets over it and embraces sobriety. She needs to give it up. And it’s going to be a while before she does. I have this image that she’s going to lose a limb or something before she does. And it scares me.”
And what about David Hasselhoff, who has battled an alcohol addiction for years?
“He’s one of these chronic relapsers. My suspicion is — although I have no direct knowledge whatsoever — that he has no place to hide. Where does he go to meetings? Who does he connect with in sobriety? That’s got to be really tough for him. My sense is he kind of wants to, but it’s never in a very sustained, humble way. Until he finds that somewhere, it’s going to be really tough for him.”
On celebrity addicts:
“What’s overwhelmingly obviously is that circumstances of their life don’t create their trouble. It’s the kind of person they are — so driven to be the celebrity or the super wealthy person. They all come from highly traumatic backgrounds. We were able to prove that. We gave over 200 celebrities narcissistic personality inventories and discovered horrible issues that they were trying to solve through success. When we treat famous people, we always end up talking about their traumatic pasts.”
On his new reality spinoff, Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew:
“This is not about celebrities. It’s probably the most powerful thing I’ve ever done. The sex addicts I’ve treated all were severely traumatized as children. And the level of commitment that these people gave to participate in treatment was really breathtaking because it is one of the most painful treatment processes there is.”
He says don’t expect the show to be explicit.
“We talk very little about sex and more about the horrible traumas that lead to the dysfunction in their relationships, the chaos, the pain and the inability to achieve any kind of stable intimacy. That’s what they all want. That’s what none of them can have.”
What does Drew say is the key to maintaining sobriety?
“If people are willing to do what we tell them to do, they get well. It’s a very, very simple phenomenon. People that are resistant, recalcitrant and not willing to do the work– guess what, they don’t get better. And if we say something like, ‘You need to go to treatment for an extended period of time, six months, 12 months,’ and they do not, they’re not going to get better. They’re going to relapse.”
Jeff Conaway looks like HELL. I know he always looks bad, but holy ish, he has GRAY skin. Anyone know if he is sober or not? Sorry Jeff, but I am guessing you aren’t. Looks like he is still hanging out with that creepy, hawk-nosed, money grubbing girlfriend as well.
I still think it is awful that Mary Carey decided to profit off Dr. Drew and his treatment facility. She apologized via Twitter (classy) to Dr. Drew, and Dr. Drew mentioned it on his Twitter as well. He said he was saddened by Carey’s choice to make the film.
I try to like Mary, but she just seems destined to live a life in Hollywood’s gutter. She could do so much more.

Forget rehab and trying to get out of the business, Mary is falling back, well, on her back. She is starring in a new X-rated film called, Celebrity Pornhab with Dr. Screw, a spoof of the VH1 reality show Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.
In this clip from TMZ where Mary is on the set of the movie, Mary takes a swing at Dr. Drew Pinsky saying, “It feels great to be with Dr. Screw. I like him better than Dr. Drew.”
Later in the same clip, Carey is seen chugging straight out of a wine bottle.
Dr. Drew has responded via his Twitter page saying that he is saddened by Mary’s choice to mock him and his attempt at helping her.
“For those of you wondering about my feelings about Mary Ellen Cook’s choice to mock : Res ipsa loquitur. Makes me very sad.”
You know, I had hoped that Mary would get her act together. She seems like a sweet girl who is just out of control in her life. But she has gone off the deep end with the movie! Poor Dr. Drew has to stand by and be mocked in a porno. He has a wife and kids.It’s just not right.
I wonder if Mary porks the Dr. Screw guy? That’s just foul. She probably wishes it was Dr. Drew.
I think it is so weird that Phoebe Price claims to be under 30! There’s just no way. Surgery or not – you can tell she is pushing 40. I’m still trying to figure out how she made a name for herself in Hollywood. I have heard she is a model and international film star (huh?) but have yet to see any of her work besides a tiny cameo here or there.
And Mary Carey you either know from the porn industry or from VH1’s Celebrity Rehab/Sober House. I like Mary these days, but there was a time, especially about 5 years ago, where Mary was going out and getting ripped all the time. She was an easy target to make fun of back then.
One time I posted pics of her and a friend (whom I won’t mention because I will hear from her) leaving a club. They were completely plowed. Mary and the friend posed naughtily for the cameras. The friend lifted her skirt and gave us a crotch shot as she sat in the backseat of a car. Too bad there was a clump of toilet paper stuck to her snatch..
Anyhow, Mary has been in and out of rehab a few times and from what we are seeing on the show, she looks to be doing good. Even in these pics, she looks sober. Hopefully she got rid of that controlling mind f*** of a boyfriend.

TMZ caught the recently rehabbed Mary Carey outside Mr. Chow last night and we are happy to report that she is still sober.
Mary talked with the paps about the Daniel Baldwin incident on ‘Celebrity Rehab’ in which he text messaged her dirty messages and asked where he could buy her X-rated films.
The day after, he asked her to keep it quiet, since he is a married man. Instead, she came forward with the information to fellow rehabbers and to Dr. Drew. His wife found out about it and has since called Mary.
