Britney Spears & Mel Gibson Head to Costa Rica

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Britney Spears, her father Jamie and Mel Gibson are all headed to Costa Rica for a vacation!

The three left for Central America in a private jet at approximately 9:00am this morning. Mel invited Britney and her father to stay with his at his home there.

Britney is supposed to get approval before leaving the country due to her child custody battle, and although she does not have her children with her, it’s not known if she abided by those rules. But if her dad went with her, I would think in order to not complicate the case they would have covered their bases. I’m sure TMZ or someone will find out soon enough though. Because you know that if she didn’t get permission, it’s going to be the latest Britney controversy. Always something..

Mel Gibson and Britney Spears Have Dinner

Neither Mel Gibson nor Britney Spears is a stranger to controversy. So when the two dined together this weekend, people took notice.

Gibson and Spears met at the upscale Russian restaurant, Romanov, where they dined and visited for two hours.

The meeting has everyone wondering, what could the two possibly be discussing?

A source told OK! magazine that it’s likely that Mel is simply giving Britney some advice on how to handle negative press. “He understands what she’s going through. And he certainly has advice on how to not let it destroy your life.”

It’s also rumored that Mel may be trying to persuade Britney to join his conservative church in Malibu, the Church of the Holy Family. Britney has a past of being fickle when it comes to religion.

In 2006 Mel said of Britney, “I feel compassion for someone like Britney. She never gets a moment. Your heart goes out to her because I’m positive that, at her core, she’s a good woman.”

Mel Gibson was Disappointed with Heath Ledger’s ‘Brokeback’ Role

Friday, January 25th, 2008

Once upon a time, Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger were very close. The two bonded while shooting the film ‘The Patriot’ where Ledger played Gibson’s son.

However, that all changed after Ledger took a role in the controversial gay film, ‘Brokeback Mountain’.

Private investigator Paul Barresi claims that a “major Hollywood producer” told him that Ledger asked Gibson for advice about the role and Mel told him to pass. When Ledger went ahead with the film Gibson wasn’t too happy about it.

“Ledger asked Gibson whether he should take the role of Ennis Del Mar in ‘Brokeback’. Gibson strongly counseled against it. The role apparently ran counter to Gibson’s morality. And he felt that it would ruin Heath’s career.”

“When Gibson parted ways with Heath, it broke his heart,” claims Barresi.

Ironically, Ledger received an Oscar nomination for the edgy role. When asked why he accepted it, the late actor replied, “it was kind of a reaction against the comparison that I’m the new Mel Gibson.”

Mel Gibson’s Secret Lovechild

Monday, December 18th, 2006

What a way to top the year off for Mel.

It’s been so exciting why stop now?

Painter Carmel Sloane, 29, is claiming that Mel Gibson is her father. She says that he and her mother got it on in the backseat of a car before he was a big star.

She is asking that Mel take a paternity test, but insists that she is not doing it for publicity or money. She says that she merely wants Mel to recognize her and her son as ‘family’.

“I would like him to know he has a grandson who is a great kid. He is very bright and creative. He would be proud of him,” she said. “I’m not doing it for his money. I just want to meet the man I’ve always known was my dad — and for him to get to know his grandson.”

“I’d love it if he recognised us as family. I’m not looking for a meal ticket. I am happy with my life. I would love to meet him but I wouldn’t expect to be part of his life. I’m not looking for a piece of the pie or that lifestyle.”

Legal papers will be served to Mel sometime this week.

Deputy Who Arrested Mel Gibson in Hot Water

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

From TMZ-

“TMZ has learned the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has gone after the deputy who arrested Mel Gibson with a vengeance. At the same time, it appears little has been done to determine if top brass gave Gibson special treatment and deceived the media.
Sheriff’s sources confirm to TMZ that the Department obtained a search warrant and raided the home of Deputy James Mee on September 13th. We’re told deputies went inside and took Mee’s computer, phone records and other documents. Sheriff’s Department sources say the Department got the warrant because officials believed Deputy Mee leaked four pages of the original arrest report to TMZ. The Sheriff’s Department claims it’s a crime for a law enforcement officer to leak confidential documents.
The warrant is still sealed and the results of the search have not been made public.
TMZ contacted Mee’s lawyer, Richard Shinee, who would not comment on the warrant.
Meanwhile, the Sheriff’s Department claims it is still investigating charges that Department officials gave Gibson special treatment and lied to the media the day of the arrest.
The day Gibson was busted, Sheriff’s officials told TMZ and other media that the arrest occurred without incident. Nothing could be further from the truth. Gibson acknowledged his out-of-control behavior on today’s Good Morning America.
Also on the day of the arrest, Sheriff’s officials told TMZ that the story it was about to publish documenting Gibson’s anti-Semitic remarks and vulgar conduct was absolutely false. Only after TMZ obtained portions of the arrest report did the Department change its story, ultimately telling TMZ the entire report would be submitted to the D.A.
As of today, no one from the Sheriff’s Department has contacted TMZ to ask questions about the website’s interactions with top Sheriff’s brass on the day in question. By contrast, a Sheriff’s official did contact TMZ’s Managing Editor Harvey Levin to ask about the leak. Levin refused to give the deputy any information. The Sheriff’s Department claims it’s a crime for a law enforcement officer to leak confidential documents.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Steve Whitmore told TMZ that everything is being done to make sure that the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department is doing “everything which is right.”
Michael Gennaco, Chief Attorney for the Office of Independent Review, the oversight panel for the Department, tells TMZ the Sheriff’s Department cannot do a “complete and robust” investigation into the way the Department handled the case until the criminal investigation into the leak is resolved.”

Mel Gibson Says He’s Not ‘That Kind of Monster’

Thanks to ABC for sending this:

“Actor Mel Gibson is speaking out for the first time about the anti-Semitic comments he made to police when they booked him for drunken driving last summer. Gibson tells ABC News’ Diane Sawyer in an exclusive interview that his anti-Semitic statements were “just the stupid rambling of a drunkard.” Watch Sawyer’s exclusive interview with Mel Gibson Thursday, Oct. 12 and Friday, Oct. 13 on “Good Morning America,” which airs across the country from 7 to 9 a.m. Gibson says he is
working on healing himself and those he offended.
“What I need to do to heal myself and to be assuring and allay the fears of others and to heal them if they had any heart wounds from something I may have said,” Gibson says. “So, this is the last thing I want to be is that kind of monster.” Gibson was pulled over shortly after 2 a.m. on July 28 in Malibu, Calif., for speeding, and he and reportedly made anti-Semitic comments during his arrest. He later apologized and called the remarks “despicable.” Will Time Heal Wounds? His remarks were condemned by Jewish leaders and caused a furor in Hollywood. Many speculated that the 50-year-old actor/director’s career was irreparably damaged. “How much did you read of people who came out and said, Do not work with him again? What do you feel about them?” Sawyer asks Gibson in the interview. “I feel sad because they’ve obviously been hurt and frightened and offended enough to feel that they have to do that,” he says. “Um, and it’s their choice. There’s nothing I can do about that.” Gibson says that he will continue to work and make movies. “I’ll always continue to work. I’ve never much depended on anyone but myself, as far as that goes,” he says. “And, hey, I’m not under the illusion that everything’s just going to be hunky-dory work wise forever. I’ve never been under that illusion. Things could go away tomorrow.” In time, Gibson says he hopes he can make amends for his statements and convince people he isn’t anti-Semitic. “Would you like to say to them, ‘Give me a chance to show you who I am?’” Sawyer asks. “Well, hopefully in time they’ll know,” he says. “And, you’re powerless over everything really. All you can do is take another step, keep breathing.” Can’t Put the Toothpaste Back in the Tube In August, Gibson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of driving with an elevated blood-alcohol level and was sentenced to three years probation. He was also ordered to undergo rehabilitation for alcohol abuse. He told Sawyer that he has not had a drink in 65 days. “No, nothing,” he says. “It’s…it’s poison.” But he admits that staying sober is a constant struggle “A couple of times, you know, it was like oh, man, the hell with it, you know,” Gibson says. “But you don’t, because I have friends and people that care and, you know, you’ll fortunately be at the right place at the right time to, you know, reach out and … And many people have reached out. My goodness. I mean it’s … I’ve been overwhelmed.” The 50-year-old has said he struggled with alcoholism and drug abuse in the past. Gibson says that he had begun drinking again a couple of months before his July arrest. “Years go by, you’re fine. And then all of a sudden in a heartbeat, in an instant, on an impulse, somebody shoves a glass of Mescal in front of your nose, and says, ‘It’s from Oaxaca,’” he says. “And it’s burning its way through your esophagus, and you go, ‘Oh, man, what did I do that for? I can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube.’”
