The internet is a strange place.

It makes the world so small. When I was a kid, long before the internet, it was a pretty big deal to have a pen pal abroad. These days you can talk to people in any country, at anytime, with a stroke of the keyboard.

It was on the internet that I found a wonderful lady named Jo Moseley. Jo was diagnosed with terminal cancer a year ago and was told she had limited time. She looked forward to what she thought may have been her last holiday season. At some point I believe a friend helped Jo to organize a Facebook group called “Christmas Cards for Jo”. It was Jo’s wish to receive Christmas cards from around the world. And she did. She received dozens of cards and took photos of them for Facebook. It obviously really warmed her heart.

Well, Jo is a fighter and is still fighting strong. She has been through and continues to go through a LOT. Surgeries, chemotherapy, you name it. And the poor girl has to stay in her apartment because she can’t risk falling ill.

Jo is requesting Christmas cards once again this holiday season. Even a generic card with a note of inspiration would be much appreciated by her. She’s a very sweet lady who could use a little love from around the world.

Mom drags her kid on a leash through a Verizon store

A mother in Rome, Alabama, who was filmed dragging her kid through a store on a leash, has been arrested.

The woman reportedly injured the child as she quickly drug him/her through the store for all to see.

As you can see in the video, the child is completely limp. Whether it is because the kid was rebelling by going limp, or because the child was injured, is not known at this point. But the child did have visible marks around his/her neck.

The mother, Melissa Catherine Smith-Means, 37, was arrested and charged with felony fi More..rst-degree cruelty to a child. She is sitting in jail as we speak….hopefully with a leash around her neck.

George Sodini is the man who unleashed a barrage of gunfire onto an aerobics class at aPennsylvania LA Fitness on August 4th.

Sodini had been planning the bloody attack for some time, and after it was all said and done he had killed three women, injured nine others, and scarred for life dozens.

According to detailed journals he left, he had chickened out on his first attempt to seek revenge against women. The second time he did not.

In his tediously kept journals Sodini claimed that he hadn’t had sex since 1990 and claimed that women would never give him the time of day. He said he was always dubbed “the nice guy.”

His writings contained racists thoughts, and anger aimed at his family – and women.

During his final moments Sodini shot his guns, which were carefully stored in a duffel bag, fifty-two times. The fifty-second shot ended his reign of terror – and his life.

Police found notes in his duffel bag, which also led them to Sodini’s massacre journal which was left neatly at his home on his coffee table.

“Why do this? To young girls? Just read below.”

He mentioned that he wanted his writings to be public saying, “the notes in my gym bag can be published freely . . . I will not be embarased (sic), because, well, I will be dead . . . my voice will speak forever!” “Death lives!”

In all actuality he wasn’t an unattractive man, I just think he was a very sick man, who had no self confidence. Women must have been able to sense something was not right with him, because you would think, judging from the above photo, that he wouldn’t have a hard time meeting women.

Terribly sad and tragic.

It happened on Sunday in Plain City, Utah.

A 7-year-old boy stole a car and led police on a chase after a citizen called 911 reporting that the vehicle he was driving had ran a stop sign, nearly hitting another car.

The boy evaded police, turning down streets and driving around a school parking lot before returning to his home with an officer right on his tail. The boy pulled into his driveway, jumped out and ran into his house to hide.

I bet the officer was shocked when he saw the little dude jump out of the driver’s seat! Amazingly, the kid could drive pretty damn good!

He later admitted to his dad that he stole the car in order to avoid church.

This reminds me of that 10-year-old kid who glued himself to his bed so he wouldn’t have to go to school!

A new study published online in the UK medical journal Lancet Oncology on Wednesday, claims that tanning beds are as deadly as arsenic and mustard gas.

Both tanning beds and ultraviolet radiation have been placed into the highest cancer risk category, right up there with smoking ciggies and eating lead paint flakes for breakfast.

The study found that people who start tanning in the beds before the age of 30 increase their risk of melanoma by 75%.

Also found was that every type of ultraviolet radiation caused mutations in mice. Previously it was thought that only ultraviolet B rays (UVB) were harmful. UVB rays are what the typical conventional bed consists of. Then they came out with the medium and high pressure beds which emit mostly UVA rays, which consumers have been told are safer. I only know this because, yes, I tan.

But these new revelations, which are composed of 20 studies on the matter, are proving this all to be false.

One of the cancer researchers, Vincent Cogliano said, “People need to be reminded of the risks of sunbeds. We hope the prevailing culture will change so teens don’t think they need to use sunbeds to get a tan.”

The American Cancer Society is suggesting people use spray tans and bronzers to achieve a sun kissed glow.

And now for probably a little too much information…

When I was 16, (I know you’re thinking, ‘Oh boy, here we go..’)  I went tanning for what I think was the first time. I went for 30 minutes. No one told me otherwise. This was in 1988 and tanning salons really hadn’t been out that long, at least not in my area. I burned. Bad. I still, to this day, have a spot on my left butt cheek that doesn’t tan like the rest of my body. A permanent scar really. I joke about it with my husband because it is shaped like the South American continent if it were tipped on it’s side. So yeah, I have a South American booty.

Nowadays I tan too, I’m not going to lie, but I am definitely more careful about it than when I was younger. When starting, I start with only, say, 5 minutes, then work my way up. Also, I only go 3 times a week or so.

I don’t really think this study is telling us anything we don’t already know, too much of anything can prove to be bad, so use caution and good judgment. I already hear the lawyers drooling over this one..

Yes! One of the greatest websites on the internet is BACK!

Yearbook Yourself has relaunched this month after a long hiatus and it was well worth the wait. In case you haven’t checked it out – you must! Celebrity Smack’s editor, Lindsey, called my attention to it and after seeing her pics I had to go do some as well.

You can take a photo and basically put it through a time machine going back anywhere from 1950-2000! What’s also great about this site is the music it plays to coincide with the year. Ingenious.

Funny thing, the pic with the big hair (hand on the chin) almost looks identical to my senior photo from 1990! Scary. My favorite is definitely the hippie one, with the Lennon glasses and headband.. A close second? The afro. Who knew I looked so hot in a fro?

In today’s ‘WTF News’ Candy Vigneri, a 44-year-old Maryland woman, gave birth to a baby in a portable toilet and left the baby to die in the waste tank.

As if that wasn’t cold enough, she bummed a smoke from a construction worker and sat at a nearby picnic table, contemplating what she had just done.

When a man came along to use the restroom Candy told him, “Don’t go in there, I just had a baby in there.” Obviously freaked out, they guy called 911 immediately. This in turn caused Candy to go to the toilet and retrieve the baby from the toilet’s  foul liquid. When paramedics arrived the baby was unresponsive and covered in the blue tank agent. She told police that she didn’t know she was pregnant. (Some defense.)

She was arrested and charged with child abuse and reckless endangerment. She is being held on a $50,000 bond. The baby is now is stable condition and will be in the hands of social services after recovering.

And you thought your mom was a bitch.
