Owen Wilson is back at his home in Santa Monica after a week long stay in the hospital. He is under 24 hour watch and is said to still be very fragile.
A source told Daily Mail,
“Owen is in bad mental shape but he has said he is thankful to be alive. He knows he came close to ending his own life, and he is happy that he was saved from himself. He is at home with people watching him 24/7.”
Owen Wilson has dropped out of a comedy he was filming with friend Ben Stiller so he can recover from his suicide attempt.
Wilson’s role in Tropic Thunder, was set to film in a couple of weeks. The actual filming of the movie started six weeks ago in Hawaii.
Ben Stiller is not only the producer and the director, he is also and starring in the film.
Stiller and Wilson came to the agreement that Wilson not take part in the movie. No word on if his part was written out or if he will be replaced by another actor Other actors who are in the film are Jack Black, Robert Downey, Jr. and Nick Nolte.
It’s understandable why Wilson dropped out but it’s sad..what’s a Ben Stiller film without Wilson? The two have been in eight movies together and have an amazing charisma between them.
According to Janet Charlton, Owen Wilson’s suicide attempt was NOT due to the breakup with Kate Hudson. As she points out, it was Wilson who broke up with her.
But Wilson is apparently relieved to hear that many believe the break-up is the reason he tried to kill himself.

I had an inkling this was what his suicide attempt was all about. Rumors have been buzzing that Owen loves his cocaine, and if I’m on the right track, he was up all night the night before and through the following morning, eventually breaking down around noon. Of course this is only a hunch, but my first thought when this all came about was that noon was an odd time to commit suicide. Not that there is any right or wrong time to do so, but it seems to make sense that he had been up all night long. And who knows, maybe he was up for more than one night..maybe it was two. It makes more sense than the break-up rumors. Whatever his reasoning, I still wish him the best and hopefully he is getting the help he needs.

StarMagazine.com published a report claiming the actor attempted to commit suicide last Sunday, cutting his wrists and over-dosing on pills of an undisclosed description. The actor, who is now in a stable condition at St. John’s Hospital in Los Angeles reportedly cut at his left wrist and swallowed an undetermined amount of pills, before a family member found him some time later and called 911.
TMZ.com reports that an Ambulance and the LA Fire Department arrived on the scene at 11.59 am, transporting the star to the emergency room.
While the motives behind the attempt are unclear and not otherwise specified, fans of the actor have come together to support and motivate the star to get better and make a healthy come-back.
Although the reports have not been confirmed, it is known that the actor was transported to hospital around this time, however his injuries and condition not specified.
National Enquirer editor-in-chief David Perel tells gossip website PerezHilton.com:
“Owen Wilson has now been transferred from St. John’s to another Los Angeles area hospital. His brothers Andrew and Luke are with him.
“Andrew found him after the suicide attempt and called an ambulance. Both of Owen’s wrists were slashed superficially and Owen had taken an overdose of pills.
“Owen was found with a nearly empty bottle of pills next to him. He was at his house in Santa Monica.”
Wilson is in a stable condition.
Kate Hudson ad Owen Wilson have reportedly split up.
After months of trying to hide their relationship the two only recently made a public appearance together.
Reps for both parties are refusing to comment so the rumors are probably true.
