Chia’s Special Edition ‘Obama’ Chia Pet

The wonderful folks at Chia have done it again. Introducing the President Obama Chia Pet . . . or Chia “Head”, if you will.

For a whopping $28 (or 2 for $40) you too, can own an Obama Chia of your own!

Can you believe the price on that thing? It’s a packet of cheap seeds and a small, ceramic head. Rip-off! BUT, I kinda want one. Just so I could give him a mohawk or something crazy. One thing is for certain, I’ll never buy one at that ridiculous price!

Ok, so who is going to be the first to say it’s controversial or racist? Because you KNOW someone will..

Taco Bell Dog Dies

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

taco-bell-dog-dies

The famous Taco Bell dog (Chihuahua) has died at the ripe old age of 15!

The pup, named Gidget, was huge in, what was it, 1999..? And was one of the best known commercial stars of her time.

Yo Quiero Taco Bell!

Gidget died of a stroke, but she will live forever in pop culture!

Her trainer, Sue Chipperton  says Gidget lived out her final years laying in the sun and enjoying retirement. “She made so many people happy,” she said.  “Gidget always knew where the camera was.”

I still have my Gidget refrigerator magnet that my mom gave me back in my single days when I longed for a dog but couldn’t have one because I wouldn’t be home often enough to care for it. Little did I know the dog I would eventually get would look a lot like Gidget, even though she is a Rat Terrier.

RIP Gidget!

‘Risky Business’ Trailer – I Love the 80s

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Tom Cruise in his breakthrough 1983 film, Risky Business.

Gee, to watch it back now Tommy boy sure looks wet behind the ears!

The one thing I always think of when remembering this film is  how much I hate that damn Bob Seger song, “Old Time Rock & Roll”. I still cringe every time I hear it. And I’m pretty sure I was the only one who didn’t think Rebecca De Mornay was anything special either. Rat face!

I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Curtis Armstrong, who plays Cruise’s buddy ‘Miles’ in the film. He went on the play ‘Booger’ in Revenge of the Nerds, remember? He was like the Stifler of the 80s, but not as hot. Ok, he was filthy ugly, but also a total perv like Stif.

Movies ruled for teens in the 80. They were all about sex, drugs AND rock n’ roll!

For the Children of the 70s-80s..

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

‘The Banana Splits’ were probably every kid’s favorite.

You all know how much I love to take strolls down memory lane . .

Today I thought I would dig up some intros to those kid’s shows that we we couldn’t wait to get home to see after school. You know, back when we were running around in Normandy Rose jeans, leather Nike’s, were rocking friendship pins and toting metal lunch boxes around. Sid & Marty Krofft were the bomb.

To see them now, they look pretty goofy, you have to wonder what those guys were smoking.

A treat for those who remember, but for those who don’t, you’re probably going to wonder what I’m smokin’ . .

In the Year 2000!

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

The year 2000 seemed eons away back in the 1930s.

This entertaining retro video from the 30s shows what fashion designers believed we would be wearing in the year 2000. Everything from electric belts that adapt the body to climatic changes to the all-in-one dress. A few predictions were right on, but most were way off, however, this is worth a watch.

“Oohh..swish!”

I Love the 70s

Friday, March 7th, 2008

For those who were kids in the early 70s, you’ll probably remember the theme for Sid and Marty Krofft’s ‘Sigmund and the Sea Monsters‘.

This shizzle is going waaay back! But for those who remember, you’ll get a kick out of it.

Pure 70s pop culture delight..

Retro Advertisements

tapeworm.jpg

You guys know I totally love anything retro. Art, clothing, music.. and these advertisements are pretty cool too.

My, how times have changed! Some of these are almost unbelievable. Eating lard, douching with Lysol (holy wtf) and doctor recommended cigarettes, really make you realize how much we have progressed in the past 50-60 years.

All I know is you ‘thinspiration’ bitches better not get any ideas with the tapeworms, alright?

The B-52’s Set for Comeback After 16 Years

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

That wacky, colorful and always fun band of the past is finally making a return.

The B-52’s first release in 16 years is set to hit stores on March 25th. ‘Funplex’ is the first album with the band’s new label, Astralwerks.

All band members participated in the writing for the album which was recorded in their native Athens, GA.

Guitarist Keith Strickland described the recording, “It’s loud, sexy rock and roll for your pleasure zones, with the beat pumped up to hot pink.”

Astralwerks manager Glenn Mendlinger stated, “We are thrilled to be bringing The B-52’s music to a new generation of intergalactic fans. Cindy, Fred, Kate, and Keith have made an album that is incredibly fresh, dynamic and perhaps most importantly, quintessentially The B-52’s … instantly recognizable, instantly fun.”
