Bruno, Eh Whatever

Bruno arrives at Late Night with David Letterman 7/9

Ok, so Bruno isn’t even out in theaters yet (opens tonight) and I’m already sick of him.

Not that I was ever really jacked up about the guy, either.

I think Bruno’s high point was back when Baron had just begun promoting his new film by dressing in character and storming Milan’s prestigious Fashion Week by walking down a runway in a bizarre velcro suit. I have to give him props for that, because really, that was pure genius…and funny. But can the movie possibly live up to that?

I’ll just have you know that when Borat came out I just wasn’t that into him either. I’d like to think I have a wicked sense of humor which sometimes borderlines on demented and twisted, but Sacha Baron’s characters just aren’t for me.

They say any publicity is good publicity, so I’m just doing my part. There ya go, Bruno.

Eminem Staged, He Admits!

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

relapse-eminem

Eminem has spoken out about Sacha Baron Cohen and the MTV Movie Awards, admitting everything was indeed staged.

Em spoke with RapRadar.com and got the exclusive details:

RR: Can you clear up the Bruno stunt at the MTV Awards? Was it staged or planned?

Eminem: Sacha called me when we were in Europe and he had an idea to do something outrageous at the Movie Awards.  I’m a big fan of his work so I agreed to get involved with the gag.

If it wasn’t planned the way you agreed to, do you hold MTV or Sacha responsible and will you take any kind of action?

I’m thrilled that we pulled this off better than we rehearsed it.  It had so many people going “nuts” so to speak. Everyone was blowing me up about it.

After you left the ceremony, where did you go?

After the ceremony I went back to my hotel and laughed uncontrollably for about 3 hours. Especially after I saw it on air.

There is a rumor that you hotel room was robbed and thieves got 60K and your laptop while you were at ceremony. Is that true and if so what would someone find on your computer?

The only thing was that I lost a Nike watch that we were looking for. The rest it is made-up like half the other stuff out there.

How do you think the show with Jay went and how did it feel performing “Renegade” again?

I love performing with Jay. Its the third time we’ve done the song together live and its always fun. It was an honor to share the stage with him again and to work with his band.

Eminem Sacha Baron Cohen STAGED!

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

eminem-bruno-mtv

The bizarre incident that took place between Eminem and Sacha Baron Cohen’s character Bruno WAS STAGED!

Yeah, I know, a lot of you already figured this, but I was one of those who doubted that Eminem would actually go along with something like that.

Head writer Scott Aukerman cleared up any confusion on his Tumblr:

“Yes, the Bruno/Eminem incident was staged. That’s all anyone wants to talk about, so let’s get it out of the way. They rehearsed it at dress and yes, it went as far as it did on the live show then. Okay, you can stop reading this blog now!”

Aukerman’s blog also talks about a show opening that MTV ditched at the last second, and dishes on other behind-the-scenes goodies of this year’s MTV Movie Awards.

So there you have it. Eminem asked for those nuts to be laid on his chin.

Bruno And Eminem Get Intimate – MTV Movie Awards
by TheDlisted

Eminem got a face full of Sacha Baron Cohen’s character Bruno at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.

Bruno came floating in above the audience wearing wings and and an assless costume. He then came down, right onto Eminem, landing with his butt right in Eminem’s face. You see Eminem say “Are you serious? Are you f***ing serious?! Get the f*** off me, man.”

Then his posse jumped up and pulled Bruno off him. Forcibly. Soon after the rapper and his crew stormed out of the event.

Some think it may have been staged and that Eminem was in on it. But I’m not too sure, I can’t see Em agreeing to something like that! What do you think?

Sacha Baron Cohen Storms Fashion Week

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Either you love Sacha Baron Cohen or you hate him.

Most likely, those at Fashion Week in Milan hate him.

For the second time this week the comedian gained entry to unauthorized areas at Milan’s Fashion Week. The first time he burst into the changing area backstage at Italian designer Iceberg’s show, causing models to scream.

This time, however, he managed to make it onto the catwalk during the Agata Luiz della Prada show, where he strutted his stuff in a ridiculous multi-layered outfit.

He was eventually caught and taken to the Milan Sempione police station where he was released without any charges.

Sacha is in character playing the Austrian fashionista Bruno for his new film, Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Male.

How original!  It sounds nothing like his last movie, Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. Yawn.

I know there are a lot of Borat lovers out there, but really, I thought it was overrated.  Yeah, there were a few funny parts, but as a whole the movie stunk.

I think that Sacha is trying to be another Andy Kaufman.  I mean, hello!  Kaufman’s ‘Foreign Man’ skit, ‘Latka’, the way that he would go into character and not come out of it.  It’s been done before, it’s just that this generation is too young to remember it.
