Dr. Phil Axes Britney Intervention Show

Monday, January 7th, 2008

drphileye.gif

Due to public outrage over the well publicized Britney Spears intervention show, Dr. Phil has canceled the program which was scheduled to air Tuesday.

Dr. Phil made the following statement on his web site:

“As was widely reported this weekend, at the request of concerned family members, I visited Britney Spears in the hospital. The details of that visit will, of course, remain private. We had planned to tape a Dr. Phil Now show today, focusing not on the tabloid side of Britney’s latest problems, but instead on the very serious issues surrounding this case.”

Clearly, it is not just Britney’s family struggling to find a way to protect adult children who cannot be ordered or compelled to seek help. Because the Spears situation is too intense at this time, and out of consideration to the family, I have made the decision not to move forward with the taping at this particular time. Britney and her family are in our prayers, and we ask that they be in yours.”

‘Out of consideration to the family..’ - my ass.

I’m glad that it’s been canceled. I thought the show was a ridiculous plan that would do absolutely no good to Britney and her family. A behind closed doors meeting would prove to be much more productive than publicly discussing such a private issue. Don’t you think? I mean, one of Britney’s major problems is just that. The media, publicity, attention. Dr. Phil should know that. And so should her family.

UPDATE:

The reason the show really may have been canceled is that Jamie Spears, Brit’s dad, came to his senses and realized  it wasn’t such a good idea after all.  Thank goodness someone in the family has a brain.  (TMZ)

“I watched him die and, for whatever reason, he is still alive.”

- Even Kiefer Sutherland can’t believe Carlos Bernard’s evil Tony Almeida character is still a fixture in drama series 24.

Kevin Federline to Dish on Oprah

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Kevin Federline wants to tell his side of the story. And who better to tell it to than Oprah?

K-Fed is reportedly set to appear on the Oprah Winfrey Show sometime early 2008. He plans on discussing his failed marriage to Britney Spears.

A source told News of the World, “He wants to give his side and show the world he is a good father and concerned ex-husband.”

The source added that Kevin wants everyone to know that he isn’t at fault for Britney’s odd behavior and decline.

“It’s a huge step but he could turn around the public’s view that he was the reason behind Britney’s meltdown.”

‘The Fonz’ Sculpture to be Erected in Milwaukee

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

the-fonz.jpg

Ayyyyy!

Arthur Fonzarelli, or ‘The Fonz’ from the classic television series, “Happy Days,” will be immortalized in bronze in the city of Milwaukee.

The City hopes that tourists will be drawn to the city to see the statue of the pop culture icon. Visit Milwaukee, a non-profit group for tourism in the city has raised $45,000 of the $85,000 it needs to have the sculpture commissioned. They say they are on schedule to reveal the statue sometime in 2008.

Happy Days co-creator Garry Marshall and Henry Winkler, who played The Fonz, have both approved the project. Winkler seemed both shocked and thrilled about the statue. He said,

“It’s an honor, but it is so bizarre to think there should be a statue. I wasn’t sure it was something that could happen to me.”

Winkler added that he loves the idea and that he will come to town for the dedication.

“If it helps the city, a city that has been so supportive and warm to me over the years, then I am so OK with it.”

Jerry Springer: The King of Smut

Friday, August 17th, 2007

springer-934-5934.jpg

Jerry Springer is set to keep the smut alive.

He will be hosting a television lie detector show called ‘Nothing but the Truth’. Much like ‘The Jerry Springer Show’, Springer will bring out the worst in people. Only this time they will be forced to tell the truth.

Participants will be hooked up to polygraph machines as Springer asks terribly personal and incriminating questions.

“Do you love one of your children more than the other?” and “Have you ever worn your wife’s underwear without her knowing?” are among the questions he will ask people who, for whatever reason, are willing to succumb to.

It looks like the legend of Jerry Springer will live on.

And the white trash roars.
