Add Terrence Howard to the Wife Beater List
In the wake of the Chris Brown incident, The Smoking Gun has revealed that actor Terrence Howard once assaulted and punched his wife in the face.
The incident took place in 2001 and started as Terrence and estranged wife Lori McCommas were talking on the phone.
Lori didn’t want to talk to Terrence and so he threatened her saying, “Don’t disrespect me by hanging up on me or I’ll come over and hurt you.” She hung up, but also dialed 911 immediately afterwards, telling police what he had said.
As she spoke with the dispatcher, Terrence arrived and began beating the front door down. Lori, frightened, ran to the back of the home and into the backyard. Terrence then came through the house and broke the back door to get at her. Once with the victim, he grabbed her by her left arm and punched her, closed-fisted, in the side of the face.
The assault was interrupted by Terrence’s brother who had seen him hang up the phone with Lori and leave his house in a rage. Worried for Lori’s safety, he followed.
When police arrived Terrence admitted, “I broke the door down and hit my wife.”
He was charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, harassment and stalking, but ended up pleading guilty to disorderly conduct.
This story broke after Howard’s response to the Chris Brown incident was a little blasé.
He commented, “It’s just life, man. Chris is a great guy. He’ll be alright. And Rihanna knows he loves her, you know?”
