50 Cent Sues Taco Bell

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

50 Cent is suing Taco Bell after they used his name in a marketing ploy to advertise their prices.

Taco Bell President Greg Creed officially asked the rapper to change his name from 50 Cent to 79 Cent, 89 Cent or 99 Cent and promised $10K to his favorite charity if he agreed. He wrote,

“We know that you adopted the name 50 Cent years ago as a metaphor for change. We at Taco Bell are also huge advocates for change. We encourage you to ‘Think Outside the Bun’ and hope you accept our offer.”

You had to admit, it was funny, but you knew he would never do it.

Well Fiddy isn’t laughing. He’s pissed that his fans are accusing him of being a sellout and he feels the company used his name to sell their products. He’s asking for $1 million.

Lawsuit documents read,

“Taco Bell traded on the name of the world’s biggest hip-hop star to draw attention to its new, hip-hop-based advertising campaign, and thereby generated massive publicity for its business.”

I’m sure Taco Bell is still loving all this attention. A piddly million was completely worth all the advertising they got from this - and then some.

Kevin Federline Retains Sole Custody!

Friday, July 18th, 2008

It’s been a really long year for Britney Spears and Kevin Federline.

Finally, after battling for nearly two years for custody of their sons, Sean Preston 2½, and Jayden James 1½, the ex-couple have come to an agreement.

Federline will retain sole custody and Britney will keep her current agreement which allows for two days and one over-night per week.

In a sense it’s a little bit of a shock because Britney has really made an effort to stay out of the limelight and to get well. On the other hand, I think it is a brilliant decision because her mental health and her well being are two things that she needs to work on constantly, and how can you take care of your children if you can’t take care of yourself? I don’t think Britney’s quite there yet - but hopefully she will be, in time.

Brit’s visitation can be amended by a judge - which is what will most likely happen eventually as long as Britney stays on track.

People magazine spoke with a family attorney (who was not involved in this case) who gave her opinion on the future of this case. She said, “Until the kids turn 18, we can expect in years to come that Britney and Kevin will be back in court. Britney will have a better chance of winning more custody once she regains her health. This is just the end of Round One.”

Verne Troyer Sues TMZ for $20 Million

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Verne Troyer, a.k.a. ‘Mini-Me’, is suing gossip website TMZ for publishing a slice of his supposedly “stolen” sex-tap yesterday.

Troyer filed a $20 million lawsuit against TMZ Thursday saying they violated his rights by publishing (TMZ.com) and airing (TMZ TV) parts of his sex tape. He also claims they violated his right of publicity and misappropriated his name and likeness. You know he hates being called mini-me!

The pint sized actor claims (as do they all) that his sex tape was stolen and miraculously ended up in the possession of the slimy dude, Kevin Blatt, who busted out Paris Hilton’s infamous, “One Night in Paris”. He is also named in the lawsuit.

Troyer is requesting an injunction stopping any further distribution of the video.

Victoria’s Secret Lawsuit: Legitimate or Frivlous?

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

A 52-year-old California woman is suing Victoria’s Secret after she suffered an injury while trying on a thong.

Marcrida Patterson was on this morning’s Today show with her lawyer. She explained that as she put on the “low-rise v-string” a decorative metal piece flew off and hit her in the eye. She claims she has permanent damage to her cornea.

The lawsuit does not mention a monetary amount for damages.

John Lydon, a.k.a. ‘Johnny Rotten‘ of The Sex Pistols, is being sued by a former female assistant who claims she was assaulted by the legendary punk icon.

Roxane Davis, who was employed by the show Lydon was working on at the time, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles today claiming he hit her and verbally attacked her.

She alleges that he and another assistant (who went by the name of ‘Rambo’) unleashed on her after she failed to book them rooms at the Ritz Carlton with adjoining doors.

She says Lydon “cocked back his fist … and punched her in the face” and called her “a fat f**king c*nt, f**king c*nt, and fat f**king whore.”

Davis says she complained to her employer about the abuse she was taking, “but the complaints fell on deaf ears.”

Floyd Mayweather Sues FloydMayweather.net

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

FloydMayweather.net brazenly tauts itself as the ‘Official Website’ of famous boxer, Floyd ‘Pretty Boy’ Mayweather. However, it’s not.

In fact, Mr. Mayweather has absolutely nothing to do with the site. The site hosts photos, video footage and it says merchandise is ‘coming soon’. Mostly, the site wants you to become a member of it’s ‘official’ fan club for $50.

From FloydMayweather.net:

Your Membership Kit includes:

* Welcome & thank you letter from Pretty Boy Floyd
* Personalized Fan Club credentials
* Exclusive Pretty Boy Floyd logoed t-shirt
* 8×10 glossy of Pretty Boy Floyd in action

The lawsuit was filed in Nevada. Floyd is claiming the domain name is “distinctive and famous.” He is seeking unspecified damages.

Good for him. It’s only fair really. The moron running the site could have been a little smarter about it by not claiming to be ‘official’. I don’t think the fake welcome letter helped much either. It’ll be interesting to see how it goes as there are a sh*tload of similar sites out there.
