I Love the 80s!

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

From the 1985 album, Dead Man’s Party, it’s Oingo Boingo with ‘Just Another Day’.

The song also opened the 1985 film adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s That Was Then, This Is Now. And if you’re a true 80s buff, you’ll remember that movie too.

For the Johnny Cash Lovers!

Friday, October 17th, 2008

A new, uncensored DVD box set documentary of Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison hit stores this week, and if you are super cool like me and love Johnny, you might want to check it out.

Johnny Cash’s At Folsom Prison: Legacy Edition is the 40th anniversary 2-CD and DVD box was recorded on January 13, 1968, when Cash played two shows at Folsom prison.

The box set presents the entire unvarnished 65-minute first show on disc one – expletives intact for the first time, and with seven previously unissued tracks; and the entire 75-minute second show on disc two, with 24 previously unissued tracks (out of 26!).

Make sure to check out the new documentary DVD – it features exclusive footage from inside Folsom, interviews with Merle Haggard, Rosanne Cash, Marty Stuart, and former inmates who witnessed the concert, and unpublished photography by Jim Marshall.

Not sure if I’ll be able to swing it, but I am working on getting a copy to giveaway. No promises - but I am trying!

Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Tupac Shakur Duet on New Album

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

A duet from the grave some might call it.

A track on Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes’ upcoming posthumous album called, Eye Legacy, will feature the late rapper, Tupac Shakur.

Lopes, who was a member of the successful all female trio, TLC, died in 2002 after a horrific car crash in Honduras.

Before her death she recorded a series of solo and collaborative songs that will be featured on the CD.

The album drops January 2009 and also features Missy Elliott.

Listen: Two Tracks from Beyonce’s Upcoming Album, ‘I Am’

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Beyoncé leaked two singles from her upcoming album simply titled, I Am - and if you missed their premiere yesterday, you can check them out here.

The first is “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and it is just what you would expect from B, an upbeat, catchy tune that is sure to be an instant radio hit.

The other is a soft ballad called “If I Were a Boy“, which I personally think is a little silly, and when I hear this one, it reminds me of our dear old friend, Pinocchio.

But don’t take my word for it, listen for yourself:

“Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)”

“If I Were a Boy”

Although Beyonce isn’t really my cup of tea these days, if you’re a Beyonce fan, I highly doubt you will be disappointed.

Britney’s Hot New Looks in ‘Womanizer’ Video

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Britney in ‘Womanizer’: HOT!

Britney Spears hasn’t exactly had a banner year in terms of fashion.

In fact, it’s been years since she has been known as a trend setting pop star. But in her new video, Womanizer, she truly looks fabulous!

In the first scene Britney appears to be an edgy waitress with beautiful silky black hair. (You know black is the new blond, right?)  She shows off her new slim figure in a tiny black shiny vest and leggings. You know, if she dressed like this all the time girlfriend would be a fricking billionaire..

In Britney’s second scene she plays a tough as nails business woman who is in complete control as she pins down a well dressed man in his chair.

And the third scene, is closer to the Britney that we all know, just a more cleaned up version of herself. No ratty extensions, she’s wearing a bra and her nails aren’t all chewed off. Although I am sure they didn’t last long after taping!

Paris Hilton’s BFF is a Synthesized Voice Filter

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Paris Hilton just won’t give up on singing - or lame reality shows.

She’s come out with a new single, “My BFF,” which will be the theme song to her new MTV series, Paris Hilton’s My New BFF, which starts tonight.

The song sucks, just like the show will - and just like Paris does.

Listen to “My BFF” here.
