On the set of “The Gossip Queens”
Wow! What a great few days in Hollywood!
First off, I’ll just tell you that the taping of the pilot for “The Gossip Queens” went incredibly well, and I think I fell in love with the city while I was there. I have decided this is something I want to do more of. I plan on visiting Tinseltown often in the near future!
Some shots from backstage, on the set of The Gossip Queens. Sorry they really suck, but I could only snap pics with my cell phone, and was taking them from stage left..
I was more than impressed with basically everything. There was a gorgeous set, a live studio audience and Byron Allen was running the show. (For the record, he is a very nice man!) The show went above and beyond my expectations in every way possible. The behind the scenes staff and producers were a lot of fun too. No pressure, they made you feel comfortable and were extremely supportive. I have to admit I was a bit nervous to begin with, but once I got up there and dished in front of the cameras and the audience, I felt I was born to do this.
There were four hosts, all comedians that you absolutely know and love! Loni Love, Kym Whitley, Micah McCain and Alec Mapa!!! I instantly fell in love with Micah McCain, and not like that, he is GAY. (and fabulous!) But I felt like he and I had similar views on the celebrities I discussed.
I was SO THRILLED to meet two of my very favorite bloggers in the world, MK from Popbytes.com and Janet Charlton from JanetCharlton.com (you probably recognize her from E!) Of course I HAD to snap pic with them both! They too, were guests on The Gossip Queens.
Cross your fingers that The Gossip Queens gets picked up, because if it does, the producer said I could be a regular. How fun is that?!
Pics from The Ivy
Besides the show, I got to spend some time seeing friends, people watching and cruising town. One of the first places I visited was The Ivy, that famous restaurant where celebrities are always spotted. I went with a friend and had a couple of delicious Lemon Drops (no sugar!), calamari appetizer and the Lobster Ravioli (to die for). We ate on the patio and of course I decided to venture in using the bathroom as an excuse to check out the decor.
I took my camera, of course, and decided I would shoot a few pics for my readers who have never been there and might like to see what the interior of the place looks like. Here are the shots I got before the waiters freaked and told me I had to tuck my camera away. It seems that even when celebrities aren’t in the restaurant they frown upon any pics in the joint. My bad. Lucky for me I got as many pics as I did! Of course I took one of the crapper too..heh.
On my last night I headed out to Hollywood Blvd. and met a friend for a couple cocktails at the legendary Roosevelt Hotel. I decided to have a dirty martini at the Dakota Bar inside the hotel. Thanks to my wonderful bartender, Geoffrey, for adding a little twist to an otherwise classic cocktail. A little ground pepper to add some spice to the martini. That’s what I’m talking about. Geoffrey also made me an extra special cocktail, his signature drink, a peach/grapefruit martini and let me tell you, it was so delicious I had two. If you stop by the Roosevelt anytime soon, ask for Geoffrey’s amazing drink. And tell him Spicy sent ya.
The inside of the Roosevelt was absolutely stunning. The architecture was jaw dropping. Here’s a shot of the lobby and of the ceiling. Too bad the ceiling shot doesn’t show the details of the chandelier, it was something else.
Just for fun, some shots of my solo trip to Hollywood Blvd. at night:
SO! To wrap this all up I am going to fill you in on a couple more opportunities possibly heading my way. Tomorrow I have a quasi-interview via Skype with the executive producer of an Encore production called, “In the House”. You can read a snippet about it here. I’ll let you know how it goes. Also, I will be speaking to a CBS radio exec about a possible Celebrity Smack radio show! How fun, right? Anyhow, lots of fun stuff to come, stay tuned…and wish me luck!

AWESOME POSSUM! And to hink I get to say, “i knew spicy when…” Congratulations and heres to hoping more fun and exciting opportunities come your way!
wow- how great! Thanks for sharing. I’m telling you, you should be living in LA – get a much bigger place right next to Perez – his site is so dumb. Looks like you had a blast. We adored Madame Tussuad’s- my kids had a blast in there playing with all the props. Hope the show gets picked up!
We are all living vicariously through you. And yes, you were born for this. What do you say to a blogger with a tv show…break a flipcam? Whatever. Knock ‘em dead, you look fantastic.
Also: tell those Ivy waiters to lay off. Because of those pictures, it’s now on my list instead of Chez Jay’s the next time I’m in LA. It looks lovely.
Thanks so much for risking it all to get photos of The Ivy! I’ve never seen the inside before and I’m surprised – it looks nothing like I thought it would.
Of course, these days “risking it all” is a big deal for you, what with your pilot and other shows in the works! I’m so happy that we might get to see/hear more from you on a larger scale, I’d absolutely tune to a radio or TV show starring you!
If you have time: did you have a stylist, or did you bring your own clothes? It’s a great outfit, v. chic, and quite “Spicy.” What shoes did you wear?
